PTA Board vacancies for 2022-2023

Fortunately, many of our current PTA Board members have agreed to serve one more term, but we are always looking for more volunteers to share the load! We are specifically seeking candidates for the following 4 positions:

* President-Elect: Help the PTA Board develop the budget, calendar, and strategy for the 2022-2023 school-year and assist with special projects, as needed. The President-Elect is a 2-year term with the understanding you will serve as President in 2023-2024.

* Secretary: Attend and maintain a record of the minutes for all PTA Meetings during the 2022-2023 school-year.

* Treasurer:  Help keep the books for our PTA.  This does not need to be someone with a finance background, and our most recent treasurer revamped and simplified the system this year!

* VP of Volunteers: Help ensure our PTA has a wide variety of volunteers for school events and PTA fundraisers! Assist various event chairs in volunteer coordination.

If you are interested in any of these positions or simply want to find out more, please contact the Nominating Committee at: avalasco@gmail.com

***Volunteer***

Next school year seems far away - but we need your help for the 2022-23 PTA! The PTA board transitions in late spring in preparation for the next school year and we are currently looking for parent volunteers to join our team for the 22-23 school year.

Do your kids love our PTA-sponsored after-school programs and events like Rock N Run, Spelling Bee, Bingo Night, Spring Fling and Talent Show? We will need help heading these committees next year to make the events happen!

We are also searching for leadership for our military group and a room parent coordinator.

You can help ensure the continued success of our wonderful PTA by volunteering for a committee with a minimal time commitment. No previous PTA leadership experience is necessary!

Sign up coming out soon!!

Interested in volunteering? Questions? Please email Nicole Chandler at volunteers@slpta.org

Family Engagement Survey Closes on April 3rd

We value your opinion so much that we are sending out a special reminder for you to complete the FCPS Family Engagement Survey by Sunday, April 3rd

This survey will help strengthen the partnership between your family and your school. When that partnership is strong, students can experience a range of benefits, including improved school readiness, higher student achievement, and better social skills and behavior.

We honor your opinion and commitment to your child and our schools!

Month of the Military Child (Spirit Week) – Mon. 4/18 – Fri. 4/22

Currently, over 14,000 military-connected youth call FCPS home. Each year our nation designates April as the Month of the Military Child to recognize and thank children from military families for the sacrifices they make living the military lifestyle. Celebrating the Month of the Military Child provides a powerful opportunity to raise awareness and build support to help these children meet the unique challenges they face! It is an opportunity to recognize and thank military children and youth for their heroism, character, courage, sacrifices, and continued resilience.

Show your support by dressing up each day!

Monday, April 18: Pajama Day  (We sleep soundly because of those who protect our nation)

Tuesday, April 19: Crazy Camo Day  (Represent your military branch and wear your camo)

Wednesday, April 20: Purple Up! Day  (Wear purple to honor all our military branches working together)

Thursday, April 21: Career Day  (There are so many careers to explore in the military!)

Friday, April 22: RED Friday  (Remember Everyone Deployed)
