March 25, 2022

Hello Justice HS Students, Families, and Community Members:

We’ve made it through another productive week and we are on the official countdown with only 3 ½ school days from a much needed Spring Break.  The building will be closed on Friday, April 1st and during the entire week of Spring Break, due to chillers being replaced.

I’d like to give a huge shout out to our ESSER/intervention planning teams for a splendid job on their efforts and going to the extra mile to support our Justice HS students and families.  We hosted our inaugural Family Event on this past Tuesday night, in which information sessions for college-bound and newcomer students, wellness seminars, and math and literacy activities were provided (pictured below).  Our remaining dates are:

  • Saturday, April 23rd | 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
  • Tuesday, April 26th | 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Snacks, door prizes, and childcare will be provided, so save the dates and bring the entire family!

Ramadan and Updated Prayer Room Guidelines

The evening of April 1st will be the start of Ramadan, an Islamic holy month.  Ramadan is a time for reflection, contemplation and celebration.  Ramadan is also a time for fasting and prayer.  Our school will mark this month with presentations and decorations from our Muslim Student Association and a prayer room is always made available to staff and students.

FCPS recognizes its Constitutional responsibilities to (1) make reasonable accommodations for students to meet their personal religious obligations (2) ensure that it neither promotes nor discourages religion in the schools, and (3) permit student-initiated religious expression to the same extent that it permits other student speech.

In response to the needs of our diverse community, at Justice HS, effective Monday, March 28th, we have updated our prayer room guidelines to reflect the following:

  • Prayer room hours of operation
    • 11:15 AM – 1:30 PM
    • No students will be allowed to enter prayer room after 1:30 PM
    • Students MUST have a pass from their teacher if they’re accessing the prayer room during instructional time

  • Prayer room location
    • Move from current location to B25
    • Larger space for more students to access at once
    • Adult supervision will be provided
