Dear Wakefield Forest Families,
Last week we hosted our amazing sixth grade talent show. It was great to see not only the talents and dance moves of our sixth graders, but also so many of our sixth grade parents. We are grateful to Alisa Waggoner, Gina Hibbits, Susan Ely and Michelle Brooks for their support in making this a very special event.
As we start the fourth quarter after spring break, we will be moving toward some other special events for our sixth graders. Our sixth graders received their t-shirts last week and will have a panoramic photo on April 20 at 11:30 am. Our sixth grade promotion will be at Woodson HS on Monday, June 6, 2022 at 9:00 am. We will also have a sixth grade versus staff/parents kickball game. This event will replace the traditional basketball game due to limitations on space in the gym. The kickball game is planned for Wednesday, June 1 at 9:00 am with a rain date of Wednesday, June 8 at 9:00 am. Kindergarten Orientation for SY 2022-2023 |
We are excited to be welcoming a whole new group of students to Wakefield Forest this fall. This week we are hosting a virtual orientation, where we will review the Kindergarten program, share about WFES and answer questions. This orientation will be recorded and posted to the school website afterward. Additionally, we will host an in-person Kindergarten Open House for families (including their rising kindergarten students). This will be an opportunity to drop off copies of registration materials, tour the school, and meet our kindergarten staff. Early Registration is key to WFES being fully staffed for the fall.

Upcoming Student Holidays |
As a reminder, students will be dismissed two hours early this Thursday, March 31 at 1:25 pm, the last day of the third quarter. Friday, April 1, is a teacher workday and a holiday for students. April 4-8 is spring break. Schools and school offices will be closed. See the complete 2021-22 school year calendar.

Lost and Found |
Once again, we have collected a variety of items in our Lost and Found. We've moved the items to the lobby; you are welcome to come look for that missing sweatshirt, jacket, or water bottle any time between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. Any items not claimed by the end of the day on Friday, April 15 will be donated.

April is Month of the Military Child |
Did you know that more than 14,000 military-connected youth call FCPS home? Join FCPS in celebrating them during Month of the Military Child. On Friday, April 15, we encourage everyone to wear purple in recognition of the strength and sacrifices of military-connected youth. Purple is the color that symbolizes all branches of the military, a combination of Army green, Coast Guard blue, Air Force blue, Marine red, and Navy blue.

School Clean Up on April 22 |
In honor of Earth Day, on Friday, April 22, from 4:15 to 5:15 pm, the WFES SCA is hosting an after-school clean up event. WFES families are invited to participate in the clean up (pick up trash and leaves, pull weeds). WFES will provide bags but please consider bringing your own garden tools and gloves.
Please note that this is not a drop off event. More information will be coming home in an upcoming Thursday folder flyer.

The deadline for purchasing the WFES 2021-2022 Yearbook is this Friday, April 1. Yearbooks are $13.00 and will be distributed toward the end of the school year.
