FH Weekly Update - 3/20/2022

Dear Freedom Hill Community,

We hope you are well and enjoying the weekend! We hope to see you and your family this week for our spring Book Fair! Mrs. Trott has done a wonderful job, as usual, getting things prepped for a great week.

We are excited to share a new resource that will soon be available to all Freedom Hill students to support learning. All FCPS students will have unlimited access to online tutoring support services through Tutor.com at no cost.  With this service, students can connect online any time, and in most subjects for as long as they need. Tutoring is focused instruction provided to students in a one-on-one format through voice or text chat. Tutors will focus on developing students’ strengths and capabilities in reading, mathematics, or other specified subjects. Tutoring services may be accessed before, during, or after school hours and/or on weekends through a link in Schoology.  For more information, see the FCPS website.

Finally, we want to share that Mrs. Coleman, one of our school counselors, and her husband welcomed their first child last week. Leilani Grace Coleman was born on March 13 weighing 6lbs., 5 oz. Congratulations to the Colemans!

As always, please contact us if you have any questions, concerns or great things to share about our students and staff. Have a great week.

In partnership,

Nicholas Zapadka

Principal

Family Engagement Survey Is Live!

FCPS is partnering with independent firm K12 Insight to administer the Family Engagement Survey to better recognize, understand, respect, and address family strengths and needs in our school community. The survey is open until April 3rd. It is available in English, Spanish, Arabic, Farsi, Chinese, Korean, Farsi, Urdu, and Vietnamese. All responses will be confidential.

With parent/caregiver input, the school division will be better suited to develop policies and practices that incorporate their ideas, and help focus everyone on their role in improving student achievement.

Survey results will be used to develop a plan to improve family and school partnerships throughout the division.

For more information, please watch this short video from Superintendent Brabrand and visit the Family Engagement Survey webpage. An email link was sent on March 13th, however is also available here: Family Engagement Survey Link. If you need a paper copy of the survey, please reach out to our front office and we can provide one for you.  Please find translated information below.
