Month of the Military Child

April is Month of the Military Child (MOMC), and Hayfield Student Services would like to honor your children/our students in a variety of ways during the month, with a specific focus on FCPS Spirit Week for MOMC! Spirit Week is being celebrated in many schools across Fairfax County, with a variety of ways and events. At Hayfield would like to incorporate our military families/community into as many of these planned events as we can. The week of April 18-22nd has been designated as FCPS Spirit Week; each day will have a theme and fun facts will be shared during morning announcements.

April 20th is specifically designated as Purple Up! day for FCPS schools. On this day we are encouraging the student body and staff to wear purple to show support for our military students. Hayfield will also be hosting an assembly for our military community. The assembly is where we need your support, parents and guardians!! We are asking parents to write letters to their military children in response to this prompt: What it means to you (parent) to have a child who supports, moves, and makes the sacrifices the military life asks of them. It is during this assembly we would like to present your letters, along with certificates of appreciation. Letters can be mailed, emailed to atdooling1@fcps.edu, or dropped off from 9:33am – 11:00am on the 12th April (more information on this to come).

Finally, we would like to curate a collection of pictures of our military families and communities that will be highlighted during the month. Please email family photographs highlighting your family’s commitment and service to this country to atdooling1@fcps.edu.
