Principal's Message

Dear Shrevewood Families,

We hope that you all are enjoying your long weekend!  Looking to next week,  Shrevewood will participate in Virginia’s Statewide Tornado Drill on Tuesday, March 8, 2022.  This is one of the required annual safety drills. Teachers will prepare their students ahead of time so they know what to expect.

We want to thank our staff, students, and families for their flexibility and teamwork as we shifted again this school year. We appreciate everyone understanding that all families have a different perspectives and different beliefs about what they feel is best for their children and their families.

Thank you!

Joshua DeSmyter, Principal

Susie Lilburn, Assistant Principal

Clarification of Changes to COVID Protocols

Masking:

  • It is optional for students and staff to wear masks in school or on school buses (as of March 1, 2022).
  • Please have a conversation with your child about your family's preference and the importance of respecting other families' choices.
  • We know there are multiple reasons why parents/guardians may want their child to continue to wear masks or not wear masks.
  • Teachers¬†are not¬†able to keep track of parents' preferences on mask wearing¬†during the day, so it is important that your child knows your wishes.

Notifications:

  • We will send an email each day to notify you of positive cases reported to us¬†that day. If there are no reported cases, you won't see an email.¬†
  • You will¬†no longer¬†receive the summary email on Fridays for the previous week.¬†
  • Schools are no¬†longer conducting contact tracing to identify close contacts and will only track cases to determine if there is an outbreak in a classroom, grade level, or larger group.

BINGO Night Volunteers Needed

PTA Needs your help! We are planning an outdoor BINGO NIGHT in May and need committee members to put the event together. Please email kate.coho@gmail.com if you are interested in helping plan this event!

Student Intentions

Hard to believe that we are already planning for next year.  We ask that all parents/guardians complete the Student Intention Form, one for each student, to let us know if your student will, or will not, return to Shrevewood next year.  If you are not returning, please let us know where your child/children will be attending school.

Please complete the form and send to Maria Giuliani, mggiuliani@fcps.edu, or return to the front office.

2022-2023 Kindergarten Survey

We need your help in projecting the Kindergarten enrollment for the 2022-2023 school year. Virginia Law, section 22.1-254, requires that children who will reach their fifth birthday on or before September 30, 2022, must be enrolled in Kindergarten for the 2022-2023 school year unless the parent or guardian notifies the school in writing that they do not wish the child to attend school until the following year.

If you have a child who will be five years old on or before September 30, 2022, please complete this form and return it no later than March 1, 2022. If any of your neighbors have children who will be eligible for Kindergarten, please share this information with them, as we are especially interested in reaching those Shrevewood families who do not have children currently attending school.

The information on this survey will help the school plan for adequate facilities and personnel for the 2022-2023 school year. We thank you in advance for returning the form no later than March 1, 2022. Should you have any questions please contact our SIA/Registrar, Maria Giuliani.
