Dear Woodburn Families,
Our Raise a Reader event was a great success. We want to extend our deepest thanks to all of our guest readers, the PTA, and our literacy team. They made this day special and promote our ongoing efforts to foster a love of reading across our school and community. We hope all of our wildcats enjoy their new books!
Thank you for your ongoing support as we follow the new masking guidance that has been outlined by the district. Our students are doing an excellent job of respecting each other's choices and decisions.
Together We Grow,
Katy and Bridget

Your Feedback is Important
This spring all Woodburn parents/guardians will be contacted through email with a link to the FCPS Principal Evaluation Parent/Guardian Feedback Form Online. This questionnaire is part of the Performance Evaluation Program and offers parents/guardians an opportunity to provide anonymous input about various topics related to our school. These topics include instructional leadership, school climate, human resources management, organizational management, communication and community relations and professionalism. Understanding that this has been another unusual year, the impacts of COVID-19 will be taken into consideration when reviewing the feedback.
The questionnaire will be collected online between March 7 and March 18. When you receive an email from FCPS Surveys, please take a few minutes to complete the questionnaire. Your opinions matter!
New Little Free Food Pantry On-Site
Be The Good Project, a local volunteer-run non-profit, has installed a Little Free Food Pantry at Woodburn Elementary School!
The pantry is located outside the school near the main entrance. The goal of the pantry is to provide free, emergency non-perishable food for families who need supplemental groceries — 24/7, no questions asked.
The pantry is maintained and filled by volunteers. If you have non-perishable donations to share, please feel free to place them inside the pantry any day, any time! You can learn more ways to help at bethegoodproject.org.

Health & Safety Reminders
Monitoring Your Child's Health
Please continue to you use the FCPS health screening questionnaire to monitor your child's health each day. This will support our efforts to keep all students and staff as safe as possible. If your child has Covid-like symptoms at school, you will be asked to pick them up immediately.
Please use the health screening questionnaire to screen your child for Covid-19 symptoms before sending them to school each day.
COVID-19 Response Flowchart for Families
When a positive COVID-19 case is reported at Woodburn, a collaborative effort to investigate close contacts and determine the appropriate next steps for affected students begins. To help families know what to expect, the process is outlined on the FCPS website.
COVID Case Notification Process
Once a week, either on Friday or the last day of school for the week, school leadership will share an update if there were any COVID-19 positive cases confirmed in the school that week.
Potential close contacts of the positive case that are paused from in-person instruction and activities will continue to receive real time notifications.
The FCPS COVID-19 Health Metrics webpage is updated daily for families who wish to know about cases in real-time.
Where to Find a Pediatric COVID-19 Vaccine
FCPS is encouraging all parents whose children are eligible to get vaccinated. We know that vaccination is the way out of this pandemic, and we are asking you to help us continue to make our schools as safe as they possibly can be.
The Fairfax County Health Department’s webpage has resources for finding and scheduling a vaccine appointment. Up-to-date information about vaccination opportunities is available on the FCPS website.
