Weekly Message

As Dr. Brabrand shared in his email to parents earlier today, you may elect for your child to not wear a mask in school starting Tuesday, March 1. There will be no formal process to let us know your choice– no notes or documentation will be needed.

Please understand that students must still wear masks on the bus due to Federal requirements.

We strongly recommend that students continue to participate in universal masking to help protect their classmates, teachers, and staff who have health concerns.

FCPS will continue to follow the roll back plan, shared earlier this month, which will be implemented when we reach moderate transmission, and remain there for seven consecutive days. This week, we saw our community transmission level drop into the substantial category and we anticipate we could be at or very close to moderate community transmission as early as next week. FCPS will formally announce when we are ready to make this transition.

Please talk with your child before March 1 about your family’s decision about wearing masks in schools.

OES will remain a caring and supportive place to learn. As always, please reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.

2022-2023 Kindergarten Survey

We need your help in projecting the Kindergarten enrollment for the 2022-2023 school year. Virginia Law, section 22.1-254, requires that children who will reach their fifth birthday on or before September 30, 2022, must be enrolled in Kindergarten for the 2022-2023 school year unless the parent or guardian notifies the school in writing that they do not wish the child to attend school until the following year.

If you have a child who will be five years old on or before September 30, 2022, please complete this form and return it no later than March 1, 2022. If any of your neighbors have children who will be eligible for Kindergarten, please share this information with them, as we are especially interested in reaching those Oakton families who do not have children currently attending school.

The information on this survey will help the school plan for adequate facilities and personnel for the 2022-2023 school year. We thank you in advance for returning the form no later than March 1, 2022.
