With the weather improving and Covid numbers decreasing a bit, we will be making a change to our K-2 laptop plan. Students will be required to take their laptops home only on Fridays and return with them on Mondays. We may send home laptops on a day when inclement weather may be predicted. Students in grades 3-5 will continue to take their computers home each day. Students will need to have their computers at home if they are paused for in-person instruction. We will continue to monitor circumstances and make any changes as needed.
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is happy to partner with the Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD) to provide a 5-11 vaccination clinic at Parklawn Elementary on March 8 and March 29.
The two vaccination clinics will be held in school during the school day and conducted within three weeks of each other to include the first and second doses. Vaccinations will be provided only to students enrolled at this school who have provided parental/legal guardian consent.
If you’d like to have your child vaccinated at this school clinic, (during the school day), please see the Tuesday folders for the parent/legal guardian consent and health history form and return to the main office March 3.

If you have a preschool-aged child who is eligible for kindergarten for the 2022-2023 school year, please use this link https://www.fcps.edu/sites/default/files/media/forms/it112.pdf to access the form. Return completed forms to the office no later than March 8, 2022.
If you know of any families in your neighborhood who also have rising kindergartners, please share this information or ask them to reach out to Lanh Nguyen at 703-914-6900.
Virginia Law, Section 22.1-254 requires that children who will reach their fifth birthday on or before September 30, 2022 must enroll in kindergarten for the 2022-2023 school year. If your child turns five on or before 09/30/2022 and you do not wish to enroll him/her in kindergarten, please let us know in writing.
The form can be submitted to Lanh Nguyen via email at lmnguyen1@fcps.edu or by dropping it off at the main office.

Read Across America Day is almost here! Classroom teachers will receive a book in their mailbox that they can choose to read aloud to their class on March 2nd, and then add it to their classroom library to celebrate Read Across America. All students will participate in a book giveaway in their classroom and get to select a book to keep of their very own. All of this is possible thanks to donations from our partnership with Books are Food for Your Brain. Every student will also receive a bookmark that they can personalize themselves. |

Join us for our PTA Meeting, this Thursday, February 24, at 7:00 p.m.! Members of the schools Reading Team will join us to present on the upcoming Book Fair. They will also share other literacy activities, such as the school's book giveaways with community partners and things you can do at home in reading with your children!
