Fairfax County Police Department Crime Prevention will present Hidden in Plain Sight at Mclean High School on March 1st from  7:00-8:30. Langley parents are invited to attend.

The Hidden in Plain Sight (HIPS) program is an IN-PERSON interactive program for adults only to be educated about the signs of risky behavior in teens and young adults. It touches on drug and alcohol use, mental health concerns, eating disorders, risky sexual behaviors and more.  The program begins with a setup of a teenager’s bedroom which includes close to 100 “red flags” that indicate risky behavior.  Click here to register.

FCPS Superintendent Dr. Braband Q & A

March 9, 2022 @ 7:00 - FCPS Superintendent Dr. Brabrand Q&A with Fairfax County Students.  This is an opportunity for our students to ask question of the Superintendent. Students rarely get an opportunity to ask questions of general education policy and their perspectives can be both interesting and valuable.  Event is scheduled to be in-person at the McLean Community Center.  Registration is not required. Please see the McLean Community Center website for the latest Covid policy.

DIVERSEartLANGLEY

Langley students are invited to get creative for an upcoming art exhibit: DIVERSEartLANGLEY, sponsored by the Langley PTSA committee on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

You don’t have to be taking an art class to enter: we’re accepting art submissions from anyone with an idea to express. Submissions can be in any of the seven art forms: painting/drawing, sculpture, literature (Short stories) music, dance, theater/cinema, architecture, and should answer any (or all) of these questions:

Diversity: What does diversity look like in my community?

Equity: What does equity mean to me?

Inclusion:  Are you able to be your authentic self and still be safe and accepted? (Do you feel like you have to code switch?)

Exhibit will be held Thursday, March 24, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to top three submissions.

To see details, please go to the PTSA website: https://www.ptsalangley.org/
