Dear Freedom Hill Community,
We hope you are well! Today is Presidents' Day and Freedom Hill is closed. We look forward to seeing our students again tomorrow.
Two events to put on your radar for the coming days are TwosDay (tomorrow!), and the Read-A-Thon, which begins next week. You can read more below.
As a reminder, this week the Fairfax County Dept. of Family Services will be joining classrooms for the Speak Up, Be Safe curriculum. This 60-minute program will teach our students strategies for speaking up when they witness something unsafe at school, at home, or in the community. Questions about the program can be directed to Francesca Watson.
As always, please contact us if you have any questions, concerns or great things to share about our students and staff.

This week, we are working on ONE of the FIVE overarching pillars of the Positivity Project. Cheering others’ success is an important test of our character every single day.
|
Friends don’t get jealous of each other or begrudge the other for finding success. They celebrate every victory together.”
~Karen Kingsbury
Questions you might enjoy talking about:
- Be grateful. The root of jealousy is cut off when you focus on the things you DO have, not that you don’t have.
- Be inspired instead of discouraged by their success.
- Don’t compare yourself to others. Everyone is different.
- Know that your value does not come from external things.

On Tuesday, 2.22.22, Freedom Hill will be celebrating a "Twosday" spirit day to honor the date of 2.22.22. Teachers will be planning learning activities that emphasize the number 2. Students are welcome to wear an outfit that creatively expresses something related to the number 2. It is also a great day to "twin" with a friend or sibling! |

The Fairfax Health District and Fairfax County Public Schools are hosting free COVID-19 vaccine clinics at 10 schools for students 5-11 years of age. Children do not need to be an FCPS student to attend these clinics. Vaccines will not be available for those 12 years and older. Children must be accompanied by a parent or another responsible adult at all community vaccination sites.
The Fairfax County Health Department’s webpage has information about the clinics and resources for finding and scheduling a vaccine appointment. Up-to-date information about vaccination opportunities is available on our website
