Hello Fairhill Families-

We hope your students shared with you how wonderful our 100th Day of School was yesterday! Can you believe that we have made it this far in the year already!?

Many families have shared concerns about the weight of the laptop in primary grades and the new FCPS rule to have students take them home daily. We appreciate all of your input and feedback and have decided as a school, our primary students (PK-2) will only be required to bring their laptop home on Fridays in case of potential unforeseen weather conditions on Monday that would lead to a digital snow day. If snow is in the forecast during the week we will make the call on a case by case basis. Of course, if you would like your child to continue to bring their laptop home, that is also fine.

In case you missed it in the PTA newsletter, we are super excited to share that on Saturday, March 26th we will have a Fairhill Garden Clean Up Day. We hope you can all attend as it’s a great opportunity for our students to give back to our school community and build connections with each other in a safe way since it's outside. More details to come.

Stay well,

Ted & Courtney

FCPS Survey of Preschool Children

kinder

If you have a preschool-aged child who is eligible for kindergarten for the 2022-2023 school year, please use this link https://www.fcps.edu/sites/default/files/media/forms/it112.pdf to access the form. Return completed forms no later than March 31, 2021.

If you know of any children in your neighborhood who also have rising kindergartners, please share this information or ask them to reach out to Amy Spector at 703-208-8100 or alspector@fcps.edu.

Virginia law, Section 22.1-254 requires that children who will reach their fifth birthday on or before September 30, 2022, must enroll in kindergarten for the 2022-2023 school year. If your child turns five on or before 09/30/2022 and you do not wish to enroll him/her in kindergarten, please let us know in writing.

The form can be submitted to Amy Spector via email at alspector@fcps.edu or by dropping it off at the school.

Thank you for your assistance in helping us identify school-age children.
