January 30, 2022
Hello Justice HS Students, Families, and Community Members:
We have successfully completed an amazing first semester and will begin the 2nd week of our 3rd quarter this week! As a school community, we have many accomplishments to celebrate and many more ahead of us. This semester we will begin our targeted and intensified academic interventions as we focus on striving to meet our goals for the 2021-2022 school year. More information regarding these interventions will be shared in next week’s newsletter.
The 2022-23 school year calendar was approved at the January 27 School Board Meeting. This calendar focuses on instruction, and student and operational needs. The calendar is aligned with neighboring school districts and adds additional key observance days.
Most importantly, this calendar was developed with significant input from the FCPS community. Thank you to everyone who participated in the process through surveys, webinars, and participation in the feedback committee. This effort reflects the best effort of everyone the school calendar touches.
To find out more about next year’s school calendar, visit the FCPS website.
As always, please let me know if you have any questions.

Empower our school, embrace our community, and educate to build positive futures as global citizens together.

Health and Safety
Below are some ways that you can partner with us to keep our schools safe and open for learning.
- Keep your children home when sick.
- We encourage everyone who is eligible to get vaccinated or boosted, which is the best protection against serious illness caused by COVID-19.
- Sign your child up for optional screening testing and make use of our diagnostic testing if your child has symptoms.
- Remind your child about our layered prevention strategies including proper mask wearing, hand washing and using hand sanitizer.
- Be sure your child brings home their laptop and charger every night.
Student Food Delivery
As a reminder, due to safety reasons, students may NOT order food from a food delivery service (Doordash, Uber Eats, Grubhub, etc.). Students that have food delivered will have it confiscated and can retrieve it after school from the main office. Parents are still allowed to drop off food and leave it in the main office for students to pick up during passing time to their assigned lunch period.
In-person Spectators at Athletic/Activity Events
Effective Saturday, January 29th, FCPS resumed open events to general admittance for all in-person spectators. Admittance will no longer be limited to family members only. You can still watch FCPS high school sporting events online. Here’s how:
- Go to NFHSnetwork.com.
- Search for (school name) and go to its page.
- Subscribe and follow.
This service is free for the rest of this school year. You do not need to purchase anything if you are watching FCPS hosted events.
Virginia Climate and Working Conditions Survey
Justice students will participate in the Virginia School Climate Survey. The purpose of this survey is to measure student support, student engagement, school discipline, and safety conditions in each school. This information will be used to guide educational practices that produce a safe and supportive school environment.
Report Card Distribution
Report cards will be distributed this week to all students. In addition, students and parents can now access the Grade Book and Report Card modules in ParentVUE and StudentVUE to view grades.
