Cold Weather has arrived!

Winter temperatures are definitely here. As a reminder students will continue to go outdoors for recess, mask breaks, and occasional learning activities as weather allows. Please remind your child to bundle up each morning. If you are missing any items, please have your child swing by our lost and found in the cafeteria to be reunited with any items left behind. Should your child be in need of a warm coat or other clothing, please reach out to our school counselors; Corri Shusterman (rcshusterman@fcps.edu) and Allison Jackie (ajjackie1@fcps.edu).

Additionally, in order to ensure all students are prepared and have access to virtual learning as needed, laptops will be coming home daily. With possible impending winter weather arriving on Thursday, we want to be sure that everyone feels comfortable accessing our new platforms of Schoology and Zoom. Take a moment to walk through your child's green password sheet and ask them to give you a tour. If you have any access issues, please reach out to your child's teacher for support.

FCPS Policy on Masks

Dear FCPS Community,

As we return to school after the holiday weekend, we want to let you know that FCPS will continue universal masking for all students and staff.

FCPS continues to require universal mask wearing in alignment with CDC guidance. Our layered prevention strategies have proven effective in keeping transmission rates low in our schools. We know our students are best served by in-person instruction. Adhering to our layered prevention strategies, especially universal masking, keeps our schools open and safe places for students to learn.

FCPS is reviewing Governor Youngkin’s executive order issued this weekend. As we have throughout the pandemic, we will continue to share any updated information with you around FCPS COVID-19 practices and protocols as needed. You can review current health and safety guidelines on our website.

Sincerely,

Scott S. Brabrand Superintendent Fairfax County Public Schools

FCPS Cares

FCPS CARES is an opportunity for staff, parents, students, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others. Every month, a nominated employee from each region and Central Offices will be recognized as an FCPS CARES of the Month recipient. We’ll share their names in Employee News, and they will also have access to a new FCPS CARES banner for their profile photo in Outlook. Watch this video to learn more about FCPS CARES. We also encourage you to acknowledge a staff member who has gone above and beyond!  We love our KPES staff members, let's tell them how we feel!
