Principal Message

Terraset Families,

We wanted to make sure that you saw the latest message from Dr. Brabrand regarding the unchanged FCPS mask mandate in our schools:

"Dear FCPS Community,

As we return to school after the holiday weekend, we want to let you know that FCPS will continue universal masking for all students and staff.

FCPS continues to require universal mask wearing in alignment with CDC guidance. Our layered prevention strategies have proven effective in keeping transmission rates low in our schools. We know our students are best served by in-person instruction. Adhering to our layered prevention strategies, especially universal masking, keeps our schools open and safe places for students to learn.

FCPS is reviewing Governor Youngkin’s executive order issued this weekend. As we have throughout the pandemic, we will continue to share any updated information with you around FCPS COVID-19 practices and protocols as needed. You can review current health and safety guidelines on our website."

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. We so appreciate our children’s vigilance in keeping their masks on here at school.

Kindly,

Lindsay Trout and David Ickowski

Health and Safety Guidance

As we continue to navigate COVID in schools, please use this site which gets updated regularly by FCPS as things change. This should be your go-to document if you have questions regarding your child’s or family’s situation. Please remember the most important guidance is if your child is not feeling well in any way, please keep him/her home! Thank you so much!

Hidden in Plain Sight

Fairfax County Police Department Sully District Community Outreach will present Hidden in Plain Sight an interactive program for adults to be educated about the signs of risky behavior in teens and young adults.  The presentation is Thursday, January, 27, from 7:00 p.m.- 9:15 p.m. at Langston Hughes Middle School.  Please register at https://bit.ly/hipsreston21. Must be registered to attend. No children are allowed in this presentation and parents will be turned away if they have children with them.

Hidden in Plain Sight (HIPS) is an interactive program for adults to be educated about the signs of risky behavior in teens and young adults. It touches on drug and alcohol use, mental health concerns, eating disorders, risky sexual behaviors and more. This is a IN PERSON hands-on learning adventure for PARENTS AND GUARDIANS ONLY! We guide you through a presentation that opens your eyes to what is right in front of you. This program begins with a setup of a teenager’s bedroom which includes close to 100 “red flags” that indicate risky behavior. Parents are encouraged to touch everything and identify our red flags. Times have changed since we were teenagers… do you think you can find them? The hands-on portion is followed by an educational section that includes a PowerPoint presentation detailing the red flag props that the room contained and how it is indicative of — or used in — risky behavior. We include up to date statistics and local trends, and law enforcement officers will share their experiences they have had in our community identifying risky behavior and helping to put kids on the right path to a healthy life. Let’s open the door to communicating with our teens!
