Message from the Principal

Wildcat Families,

We were excited to welcome our students back from their extended break this week.  Students and staff quickly fell back into routine, and we observed great learning occurring.  Thank you for your ongoing support as a school community!

Virtual Snow Days

Should we need it, The CVHS Virtual Learning Snow Day Schedule can be found on the school website.  Students will access virtual classes via Zoom.

FCPS has shared that any upcoming inclement weather days will result in virtual learning, and the letter can be found here.  As we prepare to observe the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday on Monday, January 17, we are also watching for the potential of winter weather early in the week.

We all need to prepare in order to have a successful inclement weather virtual learning day. CVHS teachers and staff have been working hard to ensure students know how to access their assignments in Schoology and log into Zoom.

At home, we ask that you do a few simple things that will make an inclement weather virtual learning day run smoothly:

  • Make sure students charge their devices.
  • Remind your child that the inclement weather virtual learning day schedule includes a two-hour delay so they can check their devices and make sure they are able to log in properly. (See Virtual Snow Day schedule here)
  • Remind your child that attendance will be taken on inclement weather virtual learning days.
  • Please also complete the Technology Readiness Steps for Students with your child:
  1.   Log onto your laptop with your student ID and password.
  2.   Connect your laptop to your internet connection.
  3.   Login to Google account.  In the Chrome browser, go to www.fcpsschools.net, sign in with your fcpsschools.net account.
  4.   Log into Schoology. Make sure you can access your courses at home.

Academic Advising Updates

Over the next couple of months, students in Rising Grades 10-12 will be selecting courses for the 2022-23 school year.  Academic advising and course selection information is now updated on our website.  In addition to an academic advising information overview powerpoint, you will be able to find the course catalog with descriptions, course selection sheet, short videos from teachers that describe the courses offered along with other information.  Please review this information with your child to help assist with making the wise decision about course selections.  Please visit this link for our academic advising information.

On January 18th from 6:00-7:00 PM, parents and students are invited to a Zoom webinar.  We will review briefly the course selection information overview powerpoint that can be found on our website and then have a Q/A with general inquiries.  Don’t hesitate to reach out to teachers or school counselors with any specific questions about your child.

Please register in advance for this webinar:

Counselors will be meeting with students individually to finalize course selections. Please see below for additional dates to help facilitate this process.

All Night Grad Party - We Need You!

The PTSA is in desperate need of a chair for the ANGP.  Preferably, this would be a junior or sophomore parent who could then share their expertise with the next chair.  Without a chair, it will be difficult to have the ANGP.  The Chair would be the main coordinator of the event, with support from an ANGP Board and other parents. Anyone interested in volunteering or knowing more can reach out to Principal Lehman at CRLehman@fcps.edu or Stephanie Sursi, PTSA President, at president@cvhsptsa.org
