Eaglegram

Dear Clermont Families,

It’s been a great week back with the students! While we have had many staff absences due to Covid-19, we are very grateful for the FCPS staff who have come from our central offices to help support us at Clermont.

As we prepare to observe the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday on Monday, January 17, we are also watching for the potential of winter weather early next week. We used all of our traditional snow days during last week’s snowstorm. Any future inclement weather days will include virtual learning whenever possible, and will start at 10:30 am. Our synchronous day will conclude at 2:45 pm, with 2:45 pm – 3:15 pm reserved for asynchronous work your child’s teacher will assign.

Students in grades 3-6 will continue to bring their laptops and chargers home each day. During the winter months, students in K-2 will begin bringing their laptops home on Fridays and if inclement weather is forecasted during the week. Please be sure to send the chargers and laptops back to school each school day.

At home, we ask that you do a few simple things that will make an inclement weather virtual learning day run smoothly:

  • Make sure students bring their device home Friday and be sure the device is charged ahead of Tuesday.
  • Review the Student Technology Readiness Checklist with your child and complete all the at-home readiness steps.
  • Remind your child that the inclement weather virtual learning day schedule includes a start time of 10:30 am so they can check their devices and make sure they are able to log in properly at 10:30 am.
  • Remind your child that attendance will be taken on inclement weather virtual learning days.
  • Please allow students in grades 1 and 2 to share laptop chargers with older students if needed.

During weather events, FCPS must consider power outages, technical connection issues, and whether students have access to devices that they may not have taken home the night before. FCPS will announce a virtual learning day in the weather closure announcement on our website and social media channels and through email communications and local media.

Thank you for your help in making sure an inclement weather virtual learning day is a successful one for your child. Please let me know if you have any questions RSalata@fcps.edu.

Sincerely,

Ms. Salata, Principal

MiFi Devices

Parents, if you do not have internet service at home, you may request a MiFi device for your student. The MiFi will allow your child to connect the FCPS laptop to the internet for learning. The MiFi is filtered to block harmful or inappropriate websites. If you do not have internet access in your home, you may request a MiFi by contacting Samantha Sapp SDSapp@fcps.edu.
