Principal's Message

Dear Families,

As we look to close out the year 2021, Ms. An and I would like to wish you a wonderful and warm winter break.  While 2021 might not be a year we will choose to remember, we are thankful that we were able to bring back our Oak Hill students to in person learning, five days a week!  Both our students and staff have worked very hard to build back stamina.  I know I speak for everyone when I say that we are ALL ready for some R&R!

I hope your time away from school brings you closer to family and friends and that your children create more memories to store in their sweet, little heads.  We look forward to Sliding into the New Year 2022 with a month of fun spirit days!

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to further support your child's learning at Oak Hill!

Sincerely,

Holly DeVore, Principal

Music at Oak Hill

We are celebrating the season with music at Oak Hill!

Winter Break

Winter Break

Winter break is December 20-31.  To help make sure you and your children have a restful break, we have asked that no homework be assigned during this time. Teachers may assign long-range assignments in the weeks ahead of the break, allowing students to practice time management skills, but no assignments will be due immediately following the break.

Oak Hill's office will be closed during Winter break.  Regular school and office hours resume on Monday, January 3rd.  We wish all of our families a relaxing winter break!.

Staff Award Nominees

Staff Award Nominees

Pictured are our Oak Hill Staff members who were nominated for an award.  Thank you to everyone in the community who took the time to nominate a staff member.  Representing Oak Hill at the pyramid level will be Mrs. Katie Blandon for Outstanding Teacher, Mr. Billy Germain for Outstanding New Teacher, Mrs. Ginny Phinney for Outstanding Professional Employee, and Mrs. Cara Roberds.  Good luck to our finalists at the pyramid level!

Spirit Week January 3rd-7th

Spirit Week

Here's a sneak peek at the Spirit Week we have planned for our first week back!

Get Your Child’s Online Activity Report

FCPS has new tools to help parents and guardians know more about their child’s activity on any FCPS device. These tools are provided by Lightspeed, our internet content filtering service, at no cost to families

You may sign up for a weekly Parent Report, which will provide a list of the top sites your child visited. If you want more detailed information, sign up for the Internet Use Parent portal and log-in anytime to see more detail about your child’s browsing and “pause” access to the internet during non-school hours.

Find out more and sign up for these services on the FCPS website.

Lost and Found

Lost and found

We have many coats, jackets and sweatshirts in our lost and found.  If you recognize something from this picture or you are missing one of your child's jackets, please come claim your item.  Anything that is unclaimed by December 17th will be donated.  As a reminder, if your child's name or initials are in a garment, we can help get it back to you.

Construction Update

construction

After Christmas, you will notice some changes in the front of the school for walkers and kiss and ride students.  The construction fence will be moved further out into the parking lot to accommodate the new addition, removing access to the sidewalk.   The portion of the kiss and ride lane that parallels the school will also be moved further out. Sturdy, orange and white barriers will be placed to block off the driving lane from the pedestrian walkway.  The entrance and exit to kiss and ride will remain the same, but there will only be a single lane of traffic.  We ask for your patience as there will be no passing lane with the new design.

Parent Presentation Survey

Parent input needed

Rachel Bailey has a Master’s degree in clinical psychology and has been an ADHD Coach, therapist, and teacher of positive parenting techniques. Please complete the form below by Friday, December 17th. Thank you!
