December 14, 2021 Work Session

John R. Lewis Leadership Program

In December 2020, the Board directed the Superintendent to explore developing an academy program at John R. Lewis High School that adopts the principles of his life in a curriculum focusing on government, public policy, leadership, and human rights; and to begin work on this proposal in the summer of 2021.

  • December 14, 11 a.m.: School Board Work Session- discuss the exploratory action, present a conceptual model for instructional programming, next steps for stakeholder engagement and program development.

Boundary Policy Consultant Report

In 2018, the School Board began discussions regarding FCPS Policy 8130, Facilities Planning, Local School Boundaries, Program Assignments, and School ClosingsAt the July 22, 2019, Work Session, the School Board requested the Superintendent hire an outside consultant to work with the Board to identify best practices in boundary policy and engage the community in the discussion. FCPS contracted MGT Consulting Group (MGT), an education consulting firm, in 2020 to conduct this work- delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Please view the Boundary Policy website for more information. 

  • December 14, 1:30 p.m.: School Board Work Session- present MGT Consulting Group's results on community engagement and best practices review.
