Glasgow Community Gazette - December 12

Powell

Glasgow Community:

We are fast approaching Winter Break and I hope our community is gearing up for time with family, friends and rest.

This week we honored many of our Glasgow MS/FCPS Outstanding Awards to Operational (Cindy Ramos), Professional (Danielle Griffin), Leader (Steven McFarlane), New Teacher (Cat Gamboa) and Teacher Employee (Trisha Cotter)! Please see the pictures below of our outstanding staff!

As of last week, students may obtain COVID-19 diagnostic testing at six drive-through sites in Fairfax County. Diagnostic testing is provided for anyone who has symptoms or is identified as a close contact of someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19. COVID-19 testing helps us reduce the virus’ spread and keep our schools safe places for all students to learn. I encourage you to utilize our new diagnostic testing services as needed.

Appointments are not required for diagnostic testing but families must register in the secure online portal. When you register and provide consent for your child to be tested, they will also be added to Glasgow MS screening testing pool. If you do not wish for them to be part of the weekly screening testing pool, simply log back into the online portal after your child’s test is complete and withdraw consent. More information about diagnostic and screening testing, including site locations and schedules, is available on our website. As always, please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or needs.

Humbly,
Victor L. Powell, Principal

Chorus at Glasgow: Congratulations to Glasgow’s chorus students on a fantastic concert performance on Tuesday!  We are so proud of their work and so glad that so many people  could be with us.  Here is the link to the video recording that you can re-watch and share.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zi2tdO2MJbI

YEARBOOK PICTURES NEEDED:  Attention Glasgow Community.  The Yearbook crew could really use your help.  We are in desperate need of photos for the yearbook.  It is our goal to represent EVERY single student from Glasgow in our book, The Pride.  We are lacking a great number of people and student populations.  We would absolutely love more candid pictures, of students having fun and being themselves.  Examples of this could be sporting events, competitions, friends playing in the back yard or at a get together.   If you can snag some pictures of your student AND their friends without masks,  that is even better.  Please take some pictures of your students and submit them using this form.  Please be sure to include your email, names of students, and what is happening in the pictures to ensure accuracy.  Thank you so very much for your help.   If you have any questions, please email our yearbook adviser,  Rushel Grillo: rngrillo1@fcps.edu.  Thank you.

Current students will learn more about classes and program offerings through Panther Time.
