Winter Break Message

Winter break and the new year are just around the corner. Maura and I would like to take a moment to pause and share our thanks, gratitude and awe of our community's support and engagement. 2021 has been a wild and unexpected ride for all of us and yet your support and encouragement has remained consistent. We are thrilled to have started this school year, five days a week in person and look forward to many more milestones in 2022.

Students and staff at Kings Park ES are fortunate to benefit from such a supportive community. We wish everyone a happy and healthy winter break.

*Please note that the school office will be closed over winter break as we all take some much needed time to be with family and rejuvenate for 2022.

ECHO Food Drive Success

A HUGE Thank You to everyone who sent in canned and boxed food for our annual Food Drive. ECHO picked up our donations last Friday and we collected 1,201 POUNDS of food! It took two trucks to carry our food donations back to ECHO.   Thank you for your generosity!

Winter Reading Challenge Opportunity

Students are encouraged to read to themselves and share reading with others this winter.  Students, who would like to participate in our optional Winter Reading Challenge, are invited to use the Reading Log between December 17th and January 7th to share about their reading.  Students, who return the log to school no later than January 14th, will be recognized in our upcoming KPES morning news show: Winter Literacy Celebration.

FCPS Cares

FCPS CARES is an opportunity for staff, parents, students, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others. Every month, a nominated employee from each region and Central Offices will be recognized as an FCPS CARES of the Month recipient. We’ll share their names in Employee News, and they will also have access to a new FCPS CARES banner for their profile photo in Outlook. Watch this video to learn more about FCPS CARES. We also encourage you to acknowledge a staff member who has gone above and beyond!  We love our KPES staff members, let's tell them how we feel!

KP/KG PTA News

Kings Park/Kings Glen PTA Happenings

Care To Share The PTA is excited to restart Care To Share at both Kings Park and Kings Glen! Through this program, kids can donate extra food from their school lunch, and volunteers will bring it to 'Food for Others' to help support our community.  Pre-pandemic there were more than 67,000 people in Fairfax County that were food insecure - and it's only gotten worse. We could use more volunteers to help pick up and drop off the food. If you're interested, sign up here.

Ledo's Spirit Night

Order pizza from Ledo's (8324 Old Keene Mill Rd.) on Tuesday, December 14 from 5-9pm and 20% of the proceeds will come back to the PTA!  Just mention you're participating in the Kings Park/Kings Glen PTA's spirit night!

Sincerely,

Dotty Lin and Maura Donahue
