FH Weekly Update - 12/12/21

(pictured above - students engaged in discussions to build understanding and inclusiveness as part of Inclusive Schools Week)

Dear Freedom Hill Community,

We hope you are well as we enter the final week of school before the holiday break. Last week, Freedom Hill celebrated Inclusive Schools Week. Our school is privileged to welcome a diverse group of students to our school each day. During Inclusive Schools Week, we celebrate our inclusion of students with disabilities. As part of this week, our Equity and Inclusion Team put together some great resources for classroom discussions to build understanding around many types of disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, and more. We look forward to continuing this conversations and support for our students!

The weather will be mild this week, so we will do our best to get our students outside for lunch and recess. Please continue to send your child(ren) with gloves and coats, as it can be quite chilly in the morning.

We wish everyone a great last week of school before the holidays!

Nicholas Zapadka, Principal

Eric Kopacz, Assistant Principal

Positivity Project: Self Control

This week, we are focusing on Self-Control. You have the ability to control your emotions and behaviors. You think before you act.

“By constant self-discipline and self-control, you can develop greatness of character.”

                                                          ~Grenville Kleise

Questions you might enjoy talking about:

  • Do you consider yourself to be a person who has self-control? What things do you do that indicate this?
  • Why is self-regulation important?
  • What happens when your emotions take over? How can you work on developing greater self-control?
