Franklin MS Weekly Update - December 3

Franklin Families and Students,

Thank you to all of our students, staff, and families for a great week at FMS. It was awesome to see everyone jump right back into impactful work and engaging learning experiences after the Thanksgiving Holiday.

I have been very impressed by the sense of service that has been on display by our SCA student leaders. Their hard work and dedication has created a holiday food drive for our community. There is more information below and we would love to have you participate. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

We are also excited that our musical ensembles are performing again. Congratulations to Ms. Bradner and our Orchestra students for an outstanding performance last night with the Chantilly HS Orchestra. The FMS Band and Chorus students will be performing next week. We hope to see you there!

Always feel free to contact me directly at dpwright@fcps.edu if you have questions, concerns, or if there is anything our team can do to support your student.

Thank you for your continued support and enjoy the weekend!

Sincerely,

Dustin Wright

Principal

Spirit Week - December 13-17

SCA would like students to participate in a Spirit week from December 13 – 17. This event is optional for students, but should they participate, all outfits should be school appropriate and follow the Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R).

Student Council Association Holiday Food Drive

SCA holiday food drive

The Student Council Association is hosting a holiday food drive to support our local food bank. Families are welcome to donate non-perishable items from November 30 - December 14. Students may drop off non-perishable items in the main lobby. Our goal is to donate at least 2,000 food items to our local food bank. Thank you for your support.

Franklin MS After School Program

We have had over 450 students attend the After School Program. If your child has not yet participated, it’s not too late! Many of our clubs are “open enrollment” meaning students are welcome to start attending whenever they are ready. Our late bus days are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with parent pick up on Tuesdays and Fridays. Two new clubs starting next week include Robotics and Origami Club. Please click here and check out the schedule for the next two weeks. For questions regarding the After School Program, please email Mrs. Mollé.

COVID-19 Vaccine Update

The Fairfax Health District and FCPS is offering the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5 to 11 at ten clinics located at schools across Fairfax County. The Fairfax County Health Department’s webpage has information about the clinics and resources for finding and scheduling a vaccine appointment. Click here for up-to-date information about vaccination opportunities.
