6.  Recent Student Successes

This is the next installment for the school year of what has become a weekly segment aimed at recognizing students for demonstrating recent improvement or achievement in academics, behavior or citizenship. At the end of each recognition, you will see the name of the nominating teacher or staff member. On a rotating basis, departments will nominate students.  I plan to meet with recognized students each week to congratulate them in person.

  • Lisa Brown works incredibly hard to improve her English skills. She also goes out of her way to help her fellow English language learners improve. Her diligence and kindness make her a standout student in my class.  Mr. Luc Nguyen
  • Thea Brown Hargrove consistently pushes the boundaries by sharing new and fascinating ideas during class discussions. Her enthusiasm for the content is infectious and makes learning an enjoyable experiences for her peers. Her ability to keep the conversation going is refreshing and pushes me to think about the material in a different light. Thank you for all that you do in my class!  Ms. Cynthia Yoon
  • Katelyn Chu is going above and beyond as the opinion editor of the newspaper. She is writing insightful articles that spur student conversation (and win awards), mentoring fellow students on their writing for her section, and creating visually appealing designs for print. Katelyn is a role model to other students, providing quick feedback and meeting all deadlines.  Ms. Kristine Brown
  • I am so impressed with Rithwik Erabelly's curiosity and risk taking in our class. Whether stopping by after school to chat about something he noticed in one of our texts or inserting creative writing into his analytical pieces, Rithwik always makes me see something new and interesting that I had not noticed before. I enjoy learning from him!  Ms. Nikki Lehman
  • Timothy Ha is a diligent and conscientious worker. He asks appropriate questions to be sure that he understands the assignments and is always sure to turn in work on time. His willingness to ask questions helps his entire class to understand and clarify their thinking. I appreciate his polite demeanor and desire to do well!  Ms. Danielle Hicks
  • Kind. Creative. Committed. All of these describe Eva Jaber. During each English class, Eva gives her best. While writing a personal narrative during first quarter, she used each day's lesson and strategies to sculpt her piece about theatre to top notch quality. She also encourages her classmates with smiles, kind words, and helpful suggestions. Eva improves our class every day, and I am thrilled to work with her this year. Keep it up, Eva!  Ms. Kimberly Scott
  • Madeleine Ngo is the epitome of grit in our AP Lang class and serves as a model for her peers about how to truly improve when it comes to crafting argument and analyzing rhetoric. Moreover, Madeleine is one of the stronger young people I have met this year, forging through a busier-than-normal schedule to support her field hockey teammates, her friends, her family, and herself. As such, I admire Madeleine for too many reasons to name here, and I wholeheartedly commend her for all she does for herself, our AP Lang class community, and our school.  Mr. Bobby Nelson
  • Phuoc Phan and Kevin Smith, great job on your Macbeth project! Excellent fight choreography and sound effects.  Mr. Mike Murphy
  • Mrudula Rapaka is a strong leader both in her speech/debate class and on the debate team. I am constantly impressed with her intelligence, insight, resourcefulness, empathy and patience. She is truly a joy to teach!  Ms. Barbara Clougherty
  • Noah Rivas is an awesome and responsible student. He gets along well with others and is always reading in his free time!  Ms. Danielle Simpson
  • Paige Rudolph is a hard-working student who is enthusiastic about her classwork. She is also an extremely helpful TA during my fifth period; she is using her artistic talents by helping me make a word wall! Thank you, Paige!  Ms. Danielle Simpson
  • With beautiful energy and indefatigable positivity, Kasra Sarani enters English class ready to spread good cheer and positive vibes! I so appreciate Kasra's ability to talk productively with classmates, share his natural ebullience, and approach all difficulties with a "can do" attitude. Kasra truly has a gift for helping even the quietest student feel seen and included.  Ms. Deb Wydra
  • Caitlin Schuetz is so cheerful and helpful and is always looking out for others. She is always on time to class (one of the early students) and on task. Caitlin engages and participates in all group and class discussions and is very respectful, responsible and responsive.  Ms. Laurie Guilmartin and Ms. Maryam BenOmran
  • Noyanika Vattathara is a fabulous captain of the debate team and leader in her speech/debate class. I love the way she steps up to the plate to debate any side of any issue. Despite her obvious intelligence, Noya is always willing to listen to and learn from others. She is truly a joy to teach!  Ms. Barbara Clougherty
