Important Information
Glasgow Counseling - Fall Advisory Council: The School Counseling Team will be holding its Fall Advisory Council virtually on December 2nd from 9:15am-10. The purpose of the Advisory Council is to provide support, feedback and recommendations for the school counseling team. As a team, we serve the entire school, and we will be seeking student, parent/family, staff and community members to serve on our advisory council. Of critical importance is for us to have diverse voices that represent our wider school community. If you are interested in serving on our Advisory Council, please contact Emily Wasserman (ebwasserman@fcps.edu) to express your interest.
Student Prayer: Per FCPS Policy, Glasgow provides accommodations for students who request time and space during the school day for prayer. Supervised prayer time will take place at Glasgow from 2:05pm to 2:15pm in the Lecture Hall. Because this takes place during instructional hours, students will be responsible to turn in assignments and make up missing work in a timely manner. Please note the following:
- Students will only be permitted to leave class at 2:05pm if they have a pass to pray. Students must secure these passes in advance from student services. Teachers are not able to issue passes to students.
- Glasgow does not provide prayer rugs or hijabs.
- Students are expected to follow all school rules and expectations for conduct during their transition to prayer, during prayer, and at afternoon dismissal.
- Students are expected to follow all school rules and expectations for conduct during their transition to prayer, during prayer, and at afternoon dismissal. Failure to follow school rules and expectations may result in consequences per FCPS Student Rights and Responsibilities.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s counselor.
Flexible Instructional Time: Glasgow’s Flexible Instructional Time (FIT) is the school intervention block that takes place during 4th period. At Glasgow, students may be placed into an intervention FIT course, a literacy-based enrichment FIT course, or a specialty FIT course. Student placements are based on data such as academic assessments, teacher recommendations, and testing history. FIT rosters will be uploaded into SIS mid November and FIT is graded pass/fail. FIT will begin on Tuesday, November 30th. FIT will be taking place every other 4th period, alternating with Panther Time. For questions related to your child’s FIT class, please contact your child’s school counselor.

Lost and Found: If your child is missing something have them check the stage in the cafeteria. We’ve set out a few bins of lost and found items.
Donations Accepted for Glasgow’s Brain Break Time: As you may know, all Glasgow students participate in a 20 minute Brain Break during every 4th period class. With hundreds of students playing outdoors during this time, teachers who supervise Brain Breaks have requested additional sporting equipment to help provide students opportunities for structured play. We are accepting donations of equipment such as soccer balls, footballs, and basketballs that can be made available to students and teachers during their brain breaks. Please drop off donations to the front office. Thank you for your support!
