Weekly News From South County

Family,

As we head into the Thanksgiving holiday, I wanted to just once again thank you for giving me this opportunity to share in the lives of your children and their passions. Every day I learn a little more about the wonderful talents and gifts your children have and it makes the grind of everything else “principal-ly” so worth it. Speaking of talents and gifts, here is a list of students from Northern Virginia who have been recognized as Potomac Valley Scholar Athletes. We have 6 individuals on this list from South County HS who are a part of this outstanding list of athletes who are either getting up way too early for me or putting in the work after school to practice while still getting it done in the books….. and still being teenagers! Congratulations to Elena Booher (‘22), Katherine Helms (‘22), Hope Van Beek (‘22), Skye Van Beek (‘22), Ricky Speidell (‘23) Caitlin Gross (‘24). Again, this is why I am thankful for you allowing me to work with your children.

I hope that each of you has the opportunity to find a moment to reflect on what you have to be thankful for and that you can share those reflections with those close to you. I look forward to the return of the students, but not before we put our feet up for a couple of days. For those of you who are traveling, please be careful on the highways and byways, and give grace as we all want to arrive at our destinations safely. Mask up when you need to and have a great break.

I am closing this message with a link to the phenomenal performance put on by our South County Singers from their experience at this years VMEA’s this past Friday! Take care and I will see you all on the other side of the break!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Gary
