Course Catalog Cover Art Contest
Calling all 8th graders!
Do you have a skill or passion for art? YOUR art could be featured on the cover of our 22-23 Course Catalog!
Each participant will earn 5 points for their team, and the grand prize winner will win 20 points for their team.
Your design can be created by hand or digitally and should be formatted to fit on a standard 8 ½ x 11-inch sheet of paper (portrait orientation) Your masterpiece should also convey well in black and white as that is how it will be printed if chosen for the cover.
ALL SUBMISSIONS ARE DUE BY 3RD PERIOD, MONDAY, NOVEMBER 29
You may deliver your artwork to Mrs. Spencer in the Student Services office, or email it (pdf format) from your school Gmail account to cmspencer@fcpsschools.net
Twain Theatre Fundraiser
Mark your calendars – Chipotle Night
Wednesday, December 1 – Chipotle Night fundraiser at the Kingstowne Chipotle from 5 pm to 9 pm for the MTMS Theatre Department. Tell the cashier you’re with Twain Theatre when you order or use the code 9RNBV2K when you order online.
Twain Book Fair
The Twain Book Fair will be December 6 - 10 in the library during regular school hours (7:35 AM - 2:30 PM), with additional evening hours on Tuesday, December 7 from 4:45 - 7:00 PM. Come and shop our excellent selection of high-quality books, and enter our raffle for a chance to win free books! Staff book fair previews will be on Friday, Dec. 3 from 2:15 - 3:00 PM. Cash, checks, and credit cards accepted. We hope to see you there!
Talent Show Auditions
Talent show auditions are coming up soon on Monday, December 6 after school. Students interested in auditioning should pick up an information and audition packet from the Theatre Room as soon as possible. Students must fill out an online google form and get parent and teacher signatures to audition on the 6th so don’t delay! Pick up your packet and start practicing now. Questions? Advanced Academics Program (AAP) Level IV Screening
Current 7th grade families who are interested in having their child screened for full-time Level IV AAP services for the 2022-23 school year may submit referrals and any optional materials on or before December 15, 2021, to Mark Twain Middle School Student Services. Our goal is 250 members this year. We currently have 197. Consider joining the Twain PTA! Your membership dues fund a variety of programs throughout the year. Parent memberships are $20 and $30 for a family (2-person membership).

Twain birthday celebration is coming.
Our students will celebrate Twain’s Birthday on November 30! We need parents to donate cupcakes…lots and lots of cupcakes to feed all our kids! We also need help to coordinate receiving cupcake donations in the morning 7:00 to 7:45 am and helping to give them out during the lunch periods (10:15 am to 1:00 pm). Sign up below!
