thanksgiving

Dear Franklin Sherman Families,

As we head into our Thanksgiving holiday, we wish you a happy, safe and healthy Thanksgiving.

Have a great week!

Ways to Give Back This Holiday Season

  • Support our neighbors in need...
SHARE Holiday Mitten Tree: Please purchase a $25 gift card to Target, Giant or Safeway (these stores were specifically requested) by Dec. 3. Send in the gift card with your child in a sealed envelope labeled with the student name, parent name, teacher name and addressed to the PTA. You can also hand them to parent volunteers Karen Miller or Adrienne Dreyfuss at Door 4/Walkers/Kiss and Ride. SHARE is counting on us to deliver 100 gift cards!
  • Food Drive for SHARE of McLean: We are collecting unexpired, plastic or canned foods (no glass) for SHARE's food pantry until Dec. 17. They have a specific need for canned tomatoes (sauce, diced), canned beans (black, kidney, etc.), and canned fruit (peaches, pineapple) but all other canned/plastic foods will be accepted. Please have your children bring in items and drop them off in the lobby, or you may drop them off at Kiss and Ride.
  • Support our teachers...
STEAM: Ms. Adams is collecting bottle caps for a spring “green” art project (similar in concept to the one in the cafeteria). Any container caps in any color or size can be dropped off in the box in the lobby. To help with future STEAM challenges and building projects, please also bring in recycled materials, upcycled materials, or items from her Amazon Wishlist.
  • Music: Please contact Ms. Nevills if you can help support the 6th grade spring play. She's looking for community members with skills for building set pieces, painting or costume design. You may also help build the music room's student library and movement curriculum collection by purchasing something from her Amazon Wishlist.
