Enjoy Break!

We hope this Thanksgiving break you are able to relax and enjoy time with family and friends! Our staff will be taking a break from school completely and will not be available via email until they return on Monday, November 29. To ensure everyone can have a work free break, no homework will be assigned during break and there will be no tests or quizzes the first two days when we return. Wishing everyone in our Irving Family a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

Want a way to support families in our community this holiday season?

Each year, the Irving staff and community adopt Irving families to provide gifts during the holiday season. As you can imagine, there is even more need this year in the Irving community. If you would like to donate directly to a family in our neighborhood by providing a gift card, please sign up using this Sign Up Genius. Please plan to deliver the gift card to Meg Gollinger at Irving by December 3rd to ensure we have enough time to get the gift cards to families.

If your family needs assistance, please reach out to Ms. Jamison at tdjamison@fcps.edu.

Want to show appreciation for an Irving teacher or staff member?

Calling all students and parents/guardians: Irving teachers and staff absolutely ROCK!! Complete this Google Form to voice your appreciation for a teacher, counselor, administrator or other Irving staff member! Let's show our teachers and staff how much we appreciate them!

Library News

Our Readers Unite Book Club is continuing to meet each week, with a good number of participants.   The group meets in the library after school on Mondays, from 2:30-3:30.  Any students who are avid readers are encouraged to join.  Students can express interest by asking in the library or by emailing either of the librarians.

All 7th grade English classes have visited the library to select a narrative nonfiction title of their choice to read for an upcoming English class book project.  If you are wondering what “narrative nonfiction” means, it is a true account written in the style of a novel; biographies often fall into this category. Your student’s book does not need to come from the library, but it should meet the qualifications of a “narrative nonfiction” title.

News from Your PTA

Spirit Night

Our next Spirit Night is tomorrow, Saturday, November 20 at Nando’s Peri-Peri in Springfield Mall. Take a break from cooking and show school spirit. What a win-win! See the attached flyer for details.

Movie Night

On December 3 at 7:00 pm we will host a showing of the movie “Elf” and a snow contest for students. At the same time, parents and guardians will have the opportunity to watch and discuss the film “Most Likely to Succeed.” Snacks and needed supplies will be provided for both events.

Teacher Appreciation Pies

For December, we would like to show our appreciation to our teachers and staff by gifting them with a tasty pie as they head into winter break. Click here or visit the Irving MemberHub store to sponsor a pie(s). You can also sign up to help with pie pick-up and delivery.
