Happy Thanksgiving from Kilmer MS

fcps

A message from Principal, Amy Miller:

Dear Kilmer Community,

This past Wednesday our Band, Orchestra, and Chorus departments distributed 3,263 pies as part of their fundraiser. Thank you so much for your support of our Music Department. When we return after Thanksgiving Break, we will be entering concert season. We will be holding Band, Orchestra, and Chorus concerts during the month of December. These concerts will look a bit different due to COVID-19 protocols but we are very excited that we will be having in person concerts.

Congratulations to our Kilmer Orchestra students who participated in auditions for the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association's Junior District Honors Orchestra. We had fourteen Kilmer Orchestra students accepted to the orchestra and four chosen as alternates.

We wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Sincerely,

Amy Miller, Principal

PTA Projector Fundraiser

We are so grateful for the PTAs sponsorship of the projector fundraiser. Here is a testimonial from a teacher who currently has an upgraded projector:

“The reliability of the new projector is definitely better. It is much quieter. The previous one had a fan that was very loud. The screen has a wider angle which is great for art class. The resolution is much higher than before.” Charles Raubacher, Art Teacher

If you would like to make a donation, you can go to Pay4SchoolStuff and add the Projector Fundraiser to your cart. CLICK HERE TO DONATE. Thank you for your ongoing support!

Spring Musical

The Kilmer Drama Department is excited to announce auditions for this year’s spring musical Matilda JR!

About the Show:

Matilda is a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers. She's unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly lovable Miss Honey. Over the course of her first term at school, Matilda and Miss Honey have a profound effect on each other's lives, as Miss Honey begins not only to recognize but also appreciate Matilda's extraordinary personality. Matilda's school life isn't completely smooth sailing, however – the school's mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don't abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils' saving grace!

How to prepare:

Audition packets can be downloaded from Kilmer Drama’s website at www.kmsdrama.org, or hard copies can be obtained from Mrs. Kozik in Room G103.  Students should sign up for an audition by November 19th in order to receive a PAWS pass for the singing workshop that will take place that day.  Auditions close the morning of November 23rd.
