Nominations are Being Accepted for the FCPS 2021-2022 Outstanding Employee Awards

The deadline to submit a nomination is Tuesday, November 24th

To submit a nomination for a Forestville Elementary Outstanding Employee in one of the categories below, please complete the nomination through this Google form link. You may nominate one employee at our school or multiple employees (one individual may only nominate one employee per category.)

All that is required for a preliminary nomination is a paragraph or two about how this employee demonstrates exceptional work in the criteria for that category. The google form link has more information regarding the criteria for each of these awards and the eligibility categories are below.

 You may nominate an employee in any of the following categories:

  • Outstanding Teacher
  • Outstanding New Teacher
  • Outstanding New Principal
  • Outstanding Leader
  • Outstanding Operational Employee
  • Outstanding Professional Employee

Forestville staff that are nominated will be recognized later this year and will have a chance to be acknowledged on a county level.

Window for AAP Level IV (full-time) Referrals to Close December 15, 2021

December 15th is the deadline to refer students in grades 2-6 for AAP Level IV services to begin at the start of the 2022-23 school year. If you would like your child screened for full-time AAP services, please submit the following no later than the 15th:

  • Level IV referral form (mandatory)- All forms should include information about why there may be a need for full-time AAP services. All forms must be signed and dated.   • Parent/Guardian Questionnaire (optional)- All forms should include specific examples to support student ratings. All forms must be signed and dated. Forms can be found at: https://www.fcps.edu/academics/academic-overview/advanced-academic-programs-aap/advanced-academic-program-aap-forms
  • Up to 2 single-sided pages of work samples (optional)- Work samples must be on standard 8.5x11 copy paper. Works samples should demonstrate critical/creative thinking. It is recommended that works samples connect to academic content areas (language arts, math, science, and/or social studies). No worksheets that show fact/algorithm memorization, multiple choice, or fill-in-the-blank will be accepted.
  • Additional testing (optional)- any ability testing taking through George Mason’s testing center or a licensed psychologist may be included. Testing through a psychologist must also include the psychologist’s license. Any achievement testing from a previous school district may also be included.

All items need to be submitted digitally to Ms. Twitchell, Advanced Academics Resource Teacher, through email at srtwitchell@fcps.edu. If digital submission is not possible, then you can drop off a hard copy in the main office with an email address on the envelope to confirm submission but digitally is the preferred method of submission. All items must be received by 4:00pm on Wednesday, December 15, 2021.


Dismissal Reminder

Please read the following reminder around picking students up early from school:

Picking up students prior to dismissal – Please submit an online note by noon at  https://forestvillees.fcps.edu/early-dismissal-or-change-transportation-form

In order to help minimize confusion and congestion at the end of the day, parents/guardians needing to pick up their child(ren) prior to dismissal need to do so BEFORE 3:30 p.m.  After 3:30 p.m., parents/guardians will need to wait for the 4 p.m. bell. For 2-hour early dismissal days, please do so before 1:30 p.m. or parents/guardians will need to wait for the 2:00 p.m. bell.

Quarentine Update - Resume In-Person Instruction on Day 11

Effective, Monday November 15, 2021, FCPS students who are quarantined on or after November 15, 2021 will be permitted to resume in-person following the 10th day of quarantine (Day 11). This is a change from the previous 14 days that was required as part of quarantining.

Parents/Guardians must keep their child at home until one of the following quarantine periods is met:

● 10 days of quarantine, the child remains symptom free AND parents provide a copy of the FCPS pause letter indicating the return to school date; or

● 14 days of quarantine and parents provide a copy of the clearance email from the health department.
