Thanksgiving Break

As the winter holiday season approaches, we wanted to take a moment to wish all of you a happy and healthy Thanksgiving. We are extremely grateful to be a part of such a supportive and caring school community. Being back with our Kings Park Lions five days a week is at the top of our Grateful List. The positive energy, student voice and laughter fills our hearts and hallways daily.

This year more than ever, quality time focusing on family is important during the holidays and we have asked all KPES staff members to keep this in mind over the break as well.  Please don't be alarmed should you reach out to KPES staff and not hear back over the break. You can anticipate a response on Monday, as we have asked our staff to set work aside so they too can use this time to relax and recharge. We will be ready and eager to assist you on Monday, November 29th once we return. Happy Thanksgiving!

FLE Parent Preview Night

A Family Life Education (FLE) Parent Preview night will be held virtually on Wednesday, December 1st at 6:30pm via Zoom. Please use this link to register to attend. The parent preview presentation will include an overview of FLE, how to gain access to the curriculum for their student’s grade level and how to access opt out forms. If you register, you will receive an email with a zoom invitation prior to the preview night meeting.

Local Level IV Parent Coffee Recording

This week we held a virtual parent coffee to share about Kings Park/Kings Glens plans to become a Local Level IV site. The Local Level IV Program will allow center eligible students to stay at their neighborhood school to receive services and will provide increased opportunities for students throughout the school to access AAP curriculum more often. Kings Park ES is slated to open Local Level IV beginning next year for our third graders in 2022-2023.

A recording of the virtual parent coffee hosted by Kings Park and Kings Glen via Zoom can be found here. Please feel free to reach out to Mary Keane, AART with any questions you may have. (makeane@fcps.edu)

FCPS Cares

FCPS CARES is an opportunity for staff, parents, students, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others. Every month, a nominated employee from each region and Central Offices will be recognized as an FCPS CARES of the Month recipient. We’ll share their names in Employee News, and they will also have access to a new FCPS CARES banner for their profile photo in Outlook. Watch this video to learn more about FCPS CARES. We also encourage you to acknowledge a staff member who has gone above and beyond!  We love our KPES staff members, let's tell them how we feel!

Kings Park/Kings Glen PTA Meeting

Care To Share -- The PTA is excited to restart Care To Share at both Kings Park and Kings Glen! Through this program, kids can donate extra food from their school lunch, and volunteers will bring it to Food for Others to help support our community.  Pre-pandemic there were more than 67,000 people in Fairfax County that were food insecure - and it's only gotten worse. We could use more volunteers to help pick up and drop off the food. If you're interested, sign up here.

PTA Membership Drive.  Have you joined the  PTA for the 2021-2022 school year?  Remember that memberships must be renewed every school year!  Any PTA member that has joined for the PTA 2021-2022 school year before December 9th will be entered to win a prizes drawing at our December 9 PTA meeting!  If you haven't joined yet, join today on our website to be eligible to win!

Please join us for our December 9 PTA meeting! The PTA plans to host this meeting IN PERSON at Kings Glen with a VIRTUAL option available.  In addition to our normal PTA business, we are very excited to welcome the Kings Glen Strings for a holiday performance!  We will also announce the winners of our membership drive.
