Westgate Weekly News

Dear Westgate Families,

Fall is certainly upon us and we are quickly making our way towards the Thanksgiving holiday next week!

As a reminder, we are still collecting food donations for our Westgate Food Drive.  This allows us to support Westgate families during the Thanksgiving holiday.  Please see the information below for ways in which you and your child can support this event.  Donations will be accepted through this Friday, November 19.

In addition, our Westgate Book Fair will end this Friday, November 19.    Visit the Fall Book Fair Website to sign up for eWallet or make direct online purchases.  Students will have the opportunity to purchase books during their library time this week.  As a reminder, a portion of all proceeds go back to support our Westgate library!

Next week is a short week for students and staff as there will be no school November 24-26.  We hope that our entire school community can enjoy this extended time off with family and friends.  Thank you for your continued support of all things Westgate and have a happy and healthy week ahead!

All my best,

Hallie Demetriades

Principal

6th Grade All County Chorus - Audition Information

We are very excited to announce AUDITIONS for the 2022 Sixth Grade All-County Choral Festival! ACCF is a unique opportunity for your child to make music with other sixth grade students from all over the county. Our guest conductor, Michael Wu, will be working with all the singers throughout the culminating festival weekend of Friday, March 18th and Saturday, March 19th. Our school has a limited number of spots available, so students will be selected by audition. It is important that students understand that this is a serious commitment.  Please see here for more information regarding auditions.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email Mrs. Schubert at vjschubert@fcps.edu.

Our annual PTA Thanksgiving food drive for Westgate families starts this week.  Students are encouraged to drop off grade level specific donations in the boxes marked "Thanksgiving Donations" in the hall or by the main office.

If your family would prefer to make a monetary donation, the PTA is collecting gift cards to local food stores to include with the food baskets. You can drop off a gift card by placing it in an envelope marked: Thanksgiving Donation and drop it by the office.  Here are the grade specific items we are collecting.

  • Kindergarten: 1 Box of Stuffing
  • First Grade: 1 Box of Dessert Mix (Cookies, Brownies, Cake)
  • Second Grade: 1 Box of Instant Potatoes
  • Third Grade: 1 Can of Cranberry Sauce
  • Fourth Grade: 1 Package or Can of Gravy
  • Fifth Grade: 1 Box of Corn Bread Mix (No Refrigerated Rolls)
  • Sixth Grade: 1 Can of Vegetables (Green Beans, Corn, etc.)

Thank you for considering to give back to our school community this November!
