STEM Invitation

STEM Invitation Science Fair

Hello everyone!  We are the Investigational Science Outreach club (formerly Mythvestigations) at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. We would like to invite any interested students at Ravensworth ES to participate in our ninth annual Invitational Science Fair.

Participants will complete a research project of their choice and present at the fair in-person on March 19, 2022.

We will hold information sessions throughout the year to provide students with guidance on how to create a research project, so we encourage all students to participate regardless of their experience.

Our first interest/brainstorming session is this Friday, November 12, 2021, at 6:00 pm. We will hold this session virtually. During this session we will go over the goals and guidelines of this fair and introduce students to a multitude of project ideas. All interested students should sign up using the form at the link https://tinyurl.com/ISFinterest2022

Attached above is a flyer showcasing our fair and where to find additional information about this event.  If you have any questions or concerns, please email us. Feel free to also check out our website at tjsciencefair.wordpress.com or email our sponsor at cvandekampwa@fcps.edu.

Tree Dedication Ceremony, November 19, 2021

During the past 18 months, two beloved staff members of our Ravensworth family have passed away. We mourn the losses of Ms. Fahima Muslim and Mr. Edward Shelesky.

We will gather as a community on Friday, November 19th at 3:45 p.m. on the front lawn of the school near the white gazebo to dedicate two trees to the memory of Ms. Fahima Muslim and Mr. Edward Shelesky.  Please join us for this Tree Dedication Ceremony.

Ms. Fahima Muslim was an instructional assistant working with English as a Second Language (ESL) staff and students. Ms. Muslim worked at Ravensworth Elementary from 2012 to 2019. She was dedicated to her students, community, and her family.

Mr. Edward Shelesky retired in 2019 after 40 years at FCPS. Mr. Shelesky taught 6th and 4th grades at Ravensworth Elementary from 2005 to 2019. Students fondly remember his read-alouds and his elaborate classroom models of Jamestown that he led his students in constructing every year.

Ms. Muslim and Mr. Shelesky positively influenced Ravens for many years. Please share news of this Tree Dedication Ceremony with the community.  All community members, staff members, and Scouts, who will plant the trees November 13th, are invited to the ceremony.  We hope to see you there.
