Dear Parents,
I write to you today to wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving break! Ms. An and I wish you safe travels, stress free driving, moist turkeys and plenty of warm memories with those you cherish the most. Like many of you this year, my travels will take me back to family. Family that I lost time with, family that grew up and headed to college, family who lost beloved pets, in laws that lost significant others and family who gained health concerns. We are not the same in number or the same in appearances, but we will come together and this time, really appreciate each of us for our likeabilities and our family annoyances! I learned that lesson well when it was taken away from me during Covid.
I would like to remind you that there is still time to nominate an Oak Hill staff member who has gone above and beyond. We truly have an extraordinary staff who not only show up, but show up and give the best of themselves to our students! Please see below for how you can recognize someone for their work!
Regardless of whether you celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, I hope you have a warm place to be where the company that surrounds you is all you need to have a full heart. I am thankful for such caring families at Oak Hill, caring students and a staff who tirelessly cares for our kids.

Parents of students who are in grades 2-6, can submit level IV Referrals and optional documents electronically to cclahr1@fcps.edu no later than December 15th. Late submissions cannot be accepted.
Please submit all documents as separate attachments in one email. Click here to access the Referral Form. In addition to the referral form, parents are also able to submit the following optional documents electronically. No word documents, paper copies, or animated samples will be accepted.

Eligibility Notifications for level IV
Parents will be notified in April of their children’s eligibility. Children who are found eligible can receive full time, level IV services, beginning in the fall of 2022.

School will be closed November 24,25, and 26 to celebrate the Thanksgiving Holidays. Normal hours will resume on Monday, November 29th. We hope everyone gets to enjoy time with family. |
FCPS is encouraging all parents whose children are eligible to get vaccinated. We know that vaccination is the way out of this pandemic and we are asking you to help us continue to make our schools as safe as they possibly can be.
The Fairfax County Health Department’s webpage has resources for finding and scheduling a vaccine appointment. Up-to-date information about vaccination opportunities is available on our website.
We know you may have questions about the vaccine. We
talked with local pediatricians to answer some of the most common questions. Find out how to prepare your child for their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and how you can make them more comfortable if they experience side effects in this short video.
 Mrs. Lauer, Special Education teacher, shared her experience of serving in the Coast Guard with second graders on Veterans Day. Thank you for your service, Mrs. Lauer!
Our neighbors in the townhouses behind the school have let us know that their street is being used as a second kiss and ride and that there is some dangerous driving going on. We request that you use the school's kiss and ride and do not use the neighborhood behind the school. Also, please watch for our students that are walking home through that neighborhood and drive slowly on all streets near the school, especially at arrival and dismissal times. Thank you for your cooperation.
