Happy Friday Bonnie Brae Community,
We are grateful each and every week for the veterans in the Bonnie Brae Community. If you haven't had the opportunity to view our virtual Veterans Day concert, please click the link below. It is one of many ways we were able to honor our veterans at BBES this week. Looking ahead to next week we are going to be hosting our November Principal's Coffee on Wednesday, November 17th at 10:00am. Our focus will be on student wellness in the area of Media Balance and Well-Being with our Erica Demick who is our Bonnie Brae School Based Technology Specialist. In addition, Caitlin Burg, our Advanced Academic Resource teacher will be hosting a virtual information meeting on Advanced Academics on November 18 at 10:00am and 5:00pm hosted by Kaitlin Burg. We hope your children had a wonderful week and we are looking forward to seeing them back on Monday.
Sincerely,
Dwayne Young, Interim Principal
Elaine Woo, Assistant Principal
Scott Hawk, Assistant Principal
COVID Weekly Update
Every week, we will provide an update on our COVID-19 status to keep you informed. Parents interested in following the daily case reporting can refer to the COVID-19 Dashboard on the FCPS website. If you have any questions about how we are staying safe so we can keep learning in person, please contact the BBES office at 703-321-3900.
Bonnie Brae reports 1 positive COVID-19 case this week. 1 is a student and 0 are staff.
3 students and staff will be learning and teaching remotely while in a pause, quarantine, or isolation.
Remember, do your part to keep our school safe: Wear your mask, get vaccinated if you are eligible, practice healthy hygiene, and stay home when you are sick.

Veteran's Day Virtual Concert
Fourth Grade honored the individuals who have served our country through music. The 4th grade students worked hard to learn songs about and to honor our Veterans. This year, the 4th grade presented this concert virtually. We encourage you to share this presentation with your family, friends, and a Veteran!
Below, Second Graders had the opportunity to listen to Col. Krafchick share his experience as a Veteran! Col. Krafchick has been a member of the BBES community and a father of two former Scotties! We are grateful for his service to our country and the time he gave to share his story today with the students!
Today and everyday, we are so grateful for our Veterans and the great sacrifice they have made to serve our country.

Saturday Enrichment Program through William & Mary University
William & Mary’s Center for Gifted Education is excited to share their Saturday Enrichment Program (SEP) with your family. SEP is an academically challenging program with an emphasis on inquiry-based learning. The program is not meant to replace the regular school curriculum; rather, it recognizes the importance of allowing able children to explore additional specialized areas of science, mathematics, humanities, and the arts. There are spring virtual courses available in the areas of engineering, music, STEM, coding, writing, social science, and many more. Visit the website or view the flyer for more information and to register.

Thanksgiving Luncheon Update
Due to vendor and transportation issues, Food Services shared that schools will not be serving Thanksgiving lunch this year. Traditionally, this was also a community event where parents came in to support. However, due to safety protocols, this will not be happening this year.
