Scoliosis Fact Sheet

Arabic    Chinese     Farsi     Korean     Spanish     Urdu

Scoliosis is an abnormal curvature of the spine. A spine affected by scoliosis has a sideways curve, making it appear more like an “S” or a “C” than a straight line. Untreated scoliosis can lead to limited motion, back pain, deformity, and in extreme cases, impaired function of the heart and lungs. Early detection and treatment may prevent scoliosis from progressing.

Scoliosis most commonly occurs during the growing years, between age 10 and the time an adolescent is fully grown. Screenings should begin in early adolescence. Pediatricians should check for early signs during a routine physical exam.

May I Bring My Pet to School?

pets

As a friendly reminder…..

In order to protect the health and safety of students, employees, and visitors, animals (pets) are prohibited on school property.  Exceptions will be made for service animals to accommodate a person’s disability.  Exceptions may be made for scientific use in educational programs and for education-related purposes, such as class pets and mascots. In addition, there are health notices (signs) on all FCPS school grounds asking pet owners to not bring their pets on school grounds. While we adore these precious pets, please leave them at home while walking students to and from school. Thank you!
