Message from the Principal

Greetings Saxons,

I’m thrilled to share this week’s happenings in Saxon Country with you. The week has been a busy one and our students and staff are excited to have completed the first quarter of the year. The Pink Out and Halloween costumes worn today definitely brought additional joy to the school. These aren’t the only reasons we have joy at Langley. Here are some additional highlights from our great school!

Our very own Marching Saxons earned the highest possible rating, “Superior”, from every judge at the state marching assessment. It’s a huge accomplishment for a band with over 60% first time marchers, and we are very proud of them! We also congratulate all band students on the success of last evening’s first band concert of the year.

Both the girls and boys cross country teams finished in the top 4 at the Liberty District Championships yesterday, advancing to the Northern Region Championships, which will be held at Burke Lake Park on Wednesday, November 3. The Saxon girls took second place in the race. Congratulations to our top five runners in the field Lila Waters, Madeleine Spaner, Hazel Calway, Elena Pesavento and Corinne Sheedy. We commend our top five male runners Boden Gentile, Roan Toole, Wes Knaggs, Kevin Farnsworth and Clayton Stoil.

Congratulations to this year’s PTSA Reflections Contest winners!

A very delayed thank you to our phenomenal PTSA for the wonderful staff lunch they provided earlier in the month. We really appreciate the members who volunteered for the event!

I believe the strong partnership that parents and teachers share is the cornerstone of Langley’s success. The involvement of parents is so appreciated by school staff. As we are all adjusting to the return to the normal school routine, I kindly ask parents to please be mindful a couple of items. School staff have 24-48 hours to respond to communication. As staff members are juggling many responsibilities, it isn’t always possible for them to immediately respond to emails and/or phone calls. Also, when communicating with staff, it is requested that we work to find collaborative solutions. Our teachers, and other staff members, are working really hard. Thank you for treating them with kindness and respect.

I wish each of you a wonderful weekend. Hail Saxons!

Fondly,
