Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid Form

Please complete, sign and return the form by November 5.

Information from this survey can result in millions of dollars in additional grant funds each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.
If you need a new form please email Sally Bippert at sabippert@fcps.edu

Sub and Save the Day!

FCPS needs substitute teachers. Substitute teaching is a great opportunity for stay-at-home parents, retirees, college students, and anyone who wants a flexible work schedule. Like many school districts across the region and country, FCPS is looking for kind and caring substitute teachers to ensure our students continue to thrive when teachers need to be out of the building. If you are interested in substitute teaching, you can set parameters for the days you are available, the grade levels you would like to teach, or the schools where you want to assist. GBW is always looking for good substitutes!!

Get more information about substitute teaching here

2. Handicapped Parking/ Kiss & Ride Safety Reminders

Dear Parents, we recently advocated for our students with physical needs to have special handicapped parking spaces added to our parking lot near the K&R lanes, and thankfully the county has added a wonderful parking area for cars that need handicapped access.  Some of our families that park in these spaces have students that require wheel chairs and a lot of adult supervision to safely transition from their cars to our building.  Recently we have struggled to safely transition our students with physical needs into our building because other parents are parking in our handicapped parking spaces rather than waiting through our K&R lines.

Parents, please respect these parking spaces and only park in these spaces if you need a handicapped parking space as identified by the Virginia DMV.  This will help our families who need these spaces so they can more safely transition our students with physical disabilities into the building.

Book Fair

3. GBW Book Fair Coming Soon

It’s almost time for the Scholastic Book Fair!  The in-person Book Fair will be open from November 12 – November 19th.

Please visit the GBW Book Fair Homepage:
https://www.scholastic.com/bf/greenbriarwestlibrary

Students will be browsing the fair and creating wish lists during the school day on Friday, November 12th, Monday, November 15th, and Tuesday, November 16th.

Students will be able to purchase books during the school day on Tuesday, November 16th – Friday, November 19th. This year, students will be shopping independently, so we are encouraging families to sign up for eWallet accounts for your students. Cash and check will be accepted also, but eWallet is the easiest and safest way for kids to shop!

Please click here for a video explaining eWallet.

Please click here to set up eWallet.

You can also support our school by shopping the Online Fair from November 12th – November 25th. We can’t wait to see your child at the Scholastic Book Fair!

4. Picture Retake Day - November 10

Your student is eligible to have a picture taken on retake day if:

  • Your student was absent for the first picture day (September 14)
  • Your student was new to GBW after September 14
  • You paid for a picture package and wish to have the picture retaken

5. Veterans Day - November 11

veterans day

November 11 is Veterans Day and GBW would like to take the opportunity to thank our Veteran, Active Duty, and Reserve members of the Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, Air Force and Space Force.  We know the total number of Active Duty family members at our school, but we would also like to determine the number of Veterans so we may celebrate and thank them for their service. Please fill out this survey if you are a Veteran.
