It is not too late PLEASE SEND ASAP!

Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid

Beginning on October 13, FCPS will be asking all families to fill out a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid.  Today we sent home a form in your child's Tuesday Folder.

Returning this form is important because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.

For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's homeroom teacher. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the boxes in Section 3. All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by MondayOctober 25,2021. All results are confidential

More information is available online.

If interested, please join us for the scheduled training on November 9th, 9 am – 12 pm.  You can check-in at the front office. If you have any questions, please reach out to Shannon Luisa, 703-388-1350.

Veterans Day (November 11, 2021)

This Veterans Day we are excited to honor our service members by having six outdoor "Celebration Stations" where our students will do hands-on activities to learn more about military life.

We are asking for parent volunteers that are willing to join us on Veterans Day to share their military experience of deployment, the physical demands of military service and scout leaders to teach our students a few facts about the American flag. If you are interested in volunteering to help for a one-hour block, please see the sign-up genius link and more information and guidelines will be provided for each area.

To comply with CDC guidelines and keep our students and staff safe during the school day, we are limiting activities and will have more information next week about how parents who are not volunteering can participate. We ask that if you have multiple children that you choose one time slot to volunteer.

Below are the time slots that our students will be attending so that you can plan accordingly. We are looking forward to a great celebration this year!

8:50-9:20            Kindergarten

8:50-9:50            Grades 1 & 2

10:00-11:00        Grades 3 and 5

For Our Military Families

Did you know military offers several different childcare options?  They may not always be available in our area, but it's good to know just in case. They offer Family child care homes as an alternative to day care or the CDC.  The family childcare, or FCC, programs operate with certified childcare professionals known as FCC providers. Providers offer care for infants and children up to age 12 in their homes, located on or off an installation. FCC providers typically offer a flexible schedule to support parents with a variety of care needs, including full-day, part-day and school-year care, summer camp and, in some cases, 24/7 and extended care.

Is your family a Guard, Reserve or a Wounded Warrior Family?  Have you heard of Our Military Kids?  The provide mini grants to military-connected kids for the "fun things" and extra-curricular activities like soccer, music lessons and more.

Our Military Kids

The Education Directory for Children with Special Needs provides military families with children with special needs the information they need to make informed assignment decisions and easier transitions. The Education Directory consists of two components: • The Early Intervention Directory focusing on early intervention services for children birth-3 years old; • The School Age Directory focusing on education services for children with special needs, 3-21 years of age. Both provide tools and resources to help with the transition to a new location. The Early Intervention Directory summarizes national and state level early intervention (EI) trends and includes descriptions of individual EI service providers. The School-Age Directory summarizes national and state level trends for special education and includes descriptions of individual school districts.
