Franklin Sherman Flash - November 8, 2021

vax

Dear Franklin Sherman Families,

Yesterday was a big day for our Franklin Sherman community and our country as we kicked off the Covid-19 vaccinations for children ages 5-11 right here in our school!  It was an honor to host First Lady, Jill Biden, and Surgeon General, Vivek Murthy, at this event.  During this vaccination clinic, there were 216 children who received the first dose of their vaccination.

We will share additional photos with you next week.  You can read more about our wonderful event here on the FCPS web page as well.

With Gratitude,

Kathleen Quigley

Franklin Sherman’s own Ms. Tran has some terrific suggestions to help your child create beautiful art! Even better, she is also happy to consult with your child about their project or ideas they may have. Thank you Ms. Tran!

Helpful Tips From Ms. Tran:

When creating your artwork with drawing materials, remember to follow our illustration steps!

  1. Sketch in pencil. (Remember to draw light, until you get it right. Mistakes are okay! That’s why pencils have erasers.)
  2. Outline in black marker. (Trace over the pencil lines you want to keep in black marker so that we can see them better.)
  3. Erase any other pencil lines. (Be gentle so you don’t tear or wrinkle the paper. Any left over pencil lines are okay! They will be colored over.)
  4. Color with markers. (Remember to use strong craftsmanship when coloring: Fill in ALL of the white space. Use small coloring lines that go in the same direction.)
