Floris Families,

The Book Fair was a great success. Many thanks to our librarian, Tiffany Dowling, for all of the hours and hard work to create such a wonderful book fair experience for our students.

Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate with our Harvest Parade today. As shared in the message yesterday, we will plan for the Harvest Parade next Wednesday, November 3 at 9:30am.

Please remember that today is a two-hour early release (Floris dismissal time is 2:00pm), and there is no school on Monday and Tuesday (11/1-11/2) for Teacher Workdays.

There are two holidays observed next week. Greetings on Dia de los Meurtos on November 1-2.  Wishing all who celebrate the holiday a joyful and bright Diwali on November 4.

If you have not already done so, please complete and return the Federal Impact Aid forms by next Friday, November 5.

We want to remind everyone that in the SR&R the student dress code is described on page 15. One of the items in the dress code is: Clothing and accessories should not include hats or other head coverings unless worn for significant religious, cultural, or medical purpose. If your child needs to wear a hat or head covering, please ensure that you have shared this information with your child's teacher and/or counselor.

Have a fabulous weekend and enjoy Halloween if you celebrate!

“Earth: Amazing Wonders”

Second Annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest

Sponsored by Floris Green Team

To celebrate the fall harvest, our Green Team invites all students to participate in a pumpkin decorating contest focused on the theme, “Earth: Amazing Wonders." Show us your creative talents while thinking about the world around us.  Pumpkin artists are encouraged to incorporate natural materials (e.g. acorns, leaves, flowers, sticks…) and/or non-toxic Earth-friendly paints.  Photos of your creation may be submitted to Sarah de Kramer at shdekramer@fcps.edu by Wednesday, Nov. 3rd.  Awards will be given under two categories:  Most Creative Use of Natural Materials, and Best Representation of the Theme, “Earth: Amazing Wonders.”

What does Integrity mean? You are honest and speak the truth. You present yourself genuinely and sincerely. Integrity is doing the right thing when nobody is watching. People with Integrity practice what they preach and maintain a consistent pattern of behavior aligned with their values.

Why does it matter? Integrity is vital to individual growth. It is correlated with a multitude of psychological well-being measures. Harmony in your feelings, thoughts, and actions makes you better able to personally grow and achieve goals.
