FH Weekly Update - 10/24/21

Dear Freedom Hill Community,

What a blast seeing so many families at our Halloween Spooky Movie Night! We hope you enjoyed the movie and the time together as much as we did. A big thank you to Tori Brent, our SACC crew, Mr. Fenton, Liz Spinney, Kerrey Olden, and all of our volunteers. This week, we are hosting our Harvest Spirit Week, which culminates with Book Character Dress Up Day on Friday (please - no costume masks or toy weapons at school). Also on Friday, "tiny pumpkins" will be provided for our PK-3 students to celebrate the harvest season. Thank you to Trader Joe's for the pumpkin donations!

With the quarter ending on Friday, October 29th, there is also a 2 hour early release for all students. Our dismissal time will be at 2:10pm on this day.  There are student holidays on Monday, November 1st and Tuesday, November 2nd, while teachers are conducting parent teacher conferences.  We hope you have signed up for a time to connect and partner with your child’s teacher.

Last week, Superintendent Scott Brabrand presented the School Board with FCPS’s plans for the rollout of COVID-19 testing and vaccinations for our students aged 5-11. The combination of screening testing and the expansion of vaccination to elementary school students are both aimed at keeping schools and offices safe places to learn and work this year. FCPS will continue to provide updates, so stay tuned for more communication.

Finally, we have extended our parent support SignUpGenius through November. We are hoping to continue our outdoor lunch as long as the weather remains mild. Thank you for your support!

In partnership,

Nicholas Zapadka, Principal

Eric Kopacz, Assistant Principal

Federal Impact Aid Form - Please Return!

FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid by November 5. Returning this form is really important, because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grant funds each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all FCPS schools - but only if you complete the form.

For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's school. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the boxes in Section 3. All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by November 5. All results are confidential

Watch this video to learn more about the Federal Impact Aid Form.
