Spring Hill ES Panther Press

A Note from Principal Eck

Dear Spring Hill Families,

Fall is finally here! I hope you are enjoying the cooler weather and having a good time with friends and family this weekend.

I would like to acknowledge the wonderful faculty here at Spring Hill as they continue to deliver high quality instruction in a caring and kind environment. I now have had the opportunity to visit every classroom and I am so impressed with the intentionality and purpose that our teachers have when planning their lessons.

As always, we are here to help. Please feel free to reach out to your child's teacher, counselor or administrator with questions or concerns.

      Have a wonderful weekend!

A Message from FCPS - COVID-19 Screening Testing

In support of our commitment to safety, FCPS will begin optional COVID-19 screening testing students the week of November 8

Routine testing is a highly recommended strategy to reduce COVID-19 transmission and keep our schools safe. Following recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, at least 10% of students who are not fully vaccinated and have parent/guardian consent will be randomly selected for weekly testing.

Parent/guardian consent is required for students to be part of the testing pool. We will share more information about how to submit your child(ren)’s vaccination status and opt in to testing soon.

Test results will be kept confidential. Parents/guardians will be able to review results through the secure vendor portal. Parents/guardians may select an option to share their child’s test results with FCPS. Sharing results with FCPS is optional.

More information about COVID-19 testing in FCPS can be found on the FCPS website

Picture Retake Day

Picture Retake Day - November 4

Photographers from Life Touch will be at Spring Hill on the morning of Thursday, November 4th. They will take pictures of all students who were absent on or enrolled after Picture Day. Please see above for the order code.

If your student had their picture taken on Picture Day and you would like to have the picture retaken, please let your student’s teacher know and return the original picture envelope to the teacher. You may send the original pictures to school with your student on November 4th or any time before then.

If you would like a new order form or have any questions, please contact Ms. Cain in the Spring Hill office @ rcain@fcps.edu or 703-506-3400.

Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid

The Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid were sent home earlier this week.

Returning this form is important because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.

For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's homeroom teacher. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the boxes in Section 3. All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by November 5. All results are confidential

More information is available online.

Fall Festival Parade

Fall Festival

We will host our annual Fall Festival on Friday, October 29th. Students are invited to dress up as their favorite character and will walk in a parade in the field on the west side of school beginning at 9:10am. Parents are invited to watch from the sides of the field - please park at Spring Hill Rec Center. Later in the day, classes will be participating in grade-level celebrations. Only room parents or pre-assigned volunteers will be allowed into the building for celebrations. If you have questions about these celebrations, please reach out to your room parents or teacher.

Should it rain, the parade will be canceled. Thank you for your support in making this a fun and safe event for everyone. We look forward to seeing you at the parade.

The FCPS CARES Program is an opportunity for parents, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others and show they care. We invite you to submit your story, so we can all acknowledge the good work of FCPS employees at Spring Hill.
