Be the Difference

Terra Centre Families,

As we shared earlier this year, our theme is “Be the Difference,” and our staff works hard every day to make a difference in the lives of our students!  Ms. Jewell, our Advanced Academics Resource Teacher, recently made a difference by submitting a grant proposal to the Ciena Teacher Grant program.  The Ciena Grants are established to support teachers with the implementation of innovative and engaging STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) programs, activities, and technology to promote learning and digital equality.

Ms. Jewell was awarded funds to purchase Bee-Bots for our Thinking Lab!  A Bee-Bot is an exciting robot designed specifically for use by children. This easy-to-operate and friendly little robot is a perfect tool for teaching sequencing, estimation, and problem-solving!  Scroll down to see pictures of some of our students using Bee-Bots in our Thinking Lab!

Have a great weekend!

Bee-Bots in the Thinking Lab!

Our students used Portrait of a Graduate Skills to collaborate and think creativity.  They visualized a path from a summer green leaf to a red fall leaf, and they worked together to test their coding skills!
