Coates Family Newsletter for 10/15/2021

Dear Coates Families,

Our students and staff are in a great groove as we move into fall with beautiful weather outside and engaging learning opportunities at Coates. One of the experiences we would like to highlight is class meeting, which is a way that teachers build a strong sense of community in their classrooms while highlighting the Positivity Project strengths. The purpose of class meeting is to set children up for success each day socially and emotionally.

We want to take a moment to recognize the hard work and dedication our staff members put in each day. They have been working hard to connect with students, plan engaging lessons and collaborate with one another. If you would like to acknowledge a Coates staff member, we invite you to submit your story through FCPS Cares.

We also want to acknowledge all the support families provide to our students and staff. We are grateful to have such dedicated families as partners in their child's education.

Warm regards,

Mrs. Jessica King, Acting Principal

Mrs. Jenn Gray, Acting Assistant Principal

Digital Citizenship Week

Digital Citizenship week is October 18th-22nd. This year’s theme brings together digital citizenship and social emotional learning as students explore SEL in Digital Life. Students are online more than ever before, so teaching them how to use technology thoughtfully and responsibly is an essential part of their social and emotional development and academic success.  Each day here at Coates we will focus on a message that introduces students to an important idea around being a good digital citizen.  We will hold spirit days each day to reinforce the message.  Look for tips, and of course pictures, on social media each day!
