7th Grade MWEE field trip

A message from Principal, Amy Miller:

Dear Kilmer Families,

Thank you to PTA for breakfast on the school planning day. The staff really enjoyed this special treat. We appreciate the continued support from the PTA and the entire Kilmer community. The next PTA meeting is on Monday, October 18 at 7:00 PM. The meeting will be virtual.

This week our Seventh Grade Students went on the MWEE (Meaningful Watershed Educational  Experience) field trip. While on the field trip, the students collect and classify various organisms from Burke Lake. They take what they learned in the classroom about water quality and test Burke Lake to see if it is a healthy ecosystem. They also participate in an interactive station on biodiversity.

Sincerely,

Amy Miller, Principal

Lost and Found

We have accumulated many misplaced items. Please encourage your student to check for their lost items in the lost and found area in the cafeteria.

Survey for Federal Impact Aid

FCPS will be asking all families to fill out a Survey for Federal Impact Aid. Students will receive the form during PAWS Advisory (4th period) on Wednesday, October 20. All forms must be signed and returned to Kilmer by November 5. All results are confidential

Returning this form is important because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County Public Schools and Centers.

For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to their school. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the boxes in Section 3. More information is available online.

Spirit Week

Kilmer’s Student Council Association is excited to announce our first Spirit week, October 25th-29th.  Show your school spirit and celebrate the end of an awesome 1st quarter by dressing up each day.  On Monday, wear your pajamas to school.  Tuesday is career day – dress in the outfit for the career you want to have when you grow up.  On Wednesday, wear something from your favorite decade.  Thursday is Team color day – wear the color assigned to your team to show your team spirit.  Team colors will be announced by History, English and Science teachers next week.  Friday is storybook character day – dress up as  your favorite character from your favorite book.  Costumes cannot cover a student’s entire face or include face and body paint.  We can’t wait to see all the school spirit soon!

Digital Citizenship Week 10/18-10/22

Digital Citizenship Week kicks off next week! We’ll be doing activities through morning announcements and PAWS that promote students' well-being in an increasingly digital life. Plus, students will reflect on how they can use technology to be a positive influence in their community. You can join in at home by accessing conversation starters and seeing some of the materials your students will see by going to the All Parent Course in Schoology! As a reminder, your username and password for Schoology are the same as your ParentVue account.
