Lemon Road Community News 10.15.21

Message from Mrs. Castillo

Tent

This week it is starting to look and feel like fall! Thank you for having your child wear their polo shirts today – it is a great way to build community and show school spirit!

Did you see our 2nd lunch tent near the kiss & ride loop? This tent allows us to continue eating outside, even in light rain. We STILL need your support volunteering – thank you to everyone who has helped us with lunch and please sign up and volunteer with us whenever you can.

If you haven’t already, parents, please be sure to log into ParentVue – as you log in you will be asked to sign off in acknowledgement to the Student Rights and Responsibilities agreement for the 2021 – 2022 school year. If you have questions, please check this link: https://www.fcps.edu/srr

This month, Lemon Road focuses on giving back to our community. There are two ways you can support:

  1. Send in pairs of socks to support Socktober
  2. Grown out of coats or jackets from last year?       Drop them in the bin inside the lobby so they may be given to a student or parent that needs one for this winter. Our collected coats are given to Kent Gardens and they send coats to Lemon Road families.
  3. Sponsor your child in Dance-a-Thon – the PTA fall fundraiser. See details below!

I hope everyone enjoys the gorgeous fall weather this weekend. As a reminder, please return your child’s Impact Aid forms ASAP – we need 100% of forms returned. Thank you ~ Mrs. Castillo

Dance-a-Thon is Coming

Dance-a-Thon

Is your family reading for Dance-a-Thon? Check out this video to get a sense of what to expect on Oct. 27 and then be sure to register your child at mybooster.com to help us reach our goal of $15,000!

The Dance-a-Thon will take place DURING the school day and ALL students will participate. Students will be safely socially distanced in the gym in the dark with funky lighting dancing along to Just Dance and doing other fun dance/physical challenges. You can pledge a flat donation amount or per minute danced (35 minutes). All funds raised will go towards supporting STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) learning at Lemon Road.

Need more incentive? If we raise $5,000 we'll have a school-wide pajama day. If we raise $10,000 Mrs. Castillo and Mr. Birge will be taped to a wall! And if we hit $15,000? Well, be sure to look up when you arrive at school to wave hello to Mrs. Castillo and Mr. Birge as they spend their day working from the roof!

If you have any questions reach out to the PTA at lemonroadpta@gmail.com.

P2: Forgiveness

Forgiveness

Forgiveness is the ability to move past being injured, and allow yourself to reconcile with the person who hurt you.  Forgiveness can often be seen as a selfless act, but it also carries many benefits for those who practice it. Those who demonstrate forgiveness have the ability to move forward after someone has hurt them. Forgiveness is often rooted in the idea that all people are valuable and worthy of a second chance. Many who forgive have the ability to consider things from another’s perspective.
