Greetings,

To help us have a successful school year, we will continue to have students focus on three key concepts.  Students are ready to learn – on time to all classes and prepared with the necessary materials.  Students are responsible – making positive choices that contribute to our school environment.  Students are respectful – using positive words and actions with peers and staff, along with showing care for our school building.  Families – we thank you for any conversations that you have at home to help reinforce these three concepts.

Safety in Kiss N Ride Drop-off

As safety is our top priority, please remember to drop students off in the kiss n ride loop in the morning.  We’ve learned that a number of students are being dropped off in the morning off Mclearen road which places our students in danger.

Additionally, students who participate in after school programs should also be picked-up in the Kiss N Ride loop and not at another location on or off campus.

1st Quarter - SIS Parent/Student Vue

The end of the 1st Quarter is Friday, October 29th   and there is a 2-hour early release. Rachel Carson uses a Rolling Gradebook, which means that the 1st Quarter grade will be snapshot in time of your students overall grade for the year.  We encourage families to check ParentVue to understand where their student currently stands in each of their classes and reach out to teachers directly with any questions you may have. Due to grade preparation for first quarter marks, SIS will be unavailable to all FCPS parents and students from Friday, October 29th at 4pm until Saturday, November 13th at 6am.

Vision and Hearing Screening-Volunteers are still needed

If you can assist as a volunteer with the screening process, please click here for the sign up Genius page. We are in desperate need of your support to make these two days go as smoothly as possible for our students. Monday, 10/25 and Tuesday, 10/26-times are in the sign up genius.

Digital Citizenship

Digital Citizenship Week is October 18-22, 2021.  This year’s theme brings together digital citizenship and social emotional learning as students explore SEL in Digital Life. Students are online more than ever before, so teaching them how to use technology thoughtfully and responsibly is an essential part of their social and emotional development and academic success.

At Carson we will share optional activities each day through our All Student Schoology Course (Carson Student Central). Students who complete the activities will be entered into a raffle for prizes at the end of the week!”
