Dear Annandale Terrace Families,
During dismissal this afternoon, we were made aware of police activity in a neighborhood near the school. Out of an abundance of caution, we paused our walkers who had not yet left the building, and asked parents in the kiss and ride line to sign out their children from the main office. We also paused outside after school activities.
At no time was anyone on school property in any danger. After we received clearance from the police department, we returned to normal school operations. As an additional safety measure, an FCPS Safety and Security Officer remained onsite until dismissals were complete.
I am very proud of our students and staff members for the excellent way in which they handled this situation. As always, the students' safety is our most important responsibility.
